We had the good fortune of connecting with Kayla Pendergrass and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kayla, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born and raised in a small town Richmond, Indiana. I have been living in Fort Wort, Texas for four years now and it was the best decision of my life. Being from a small town made me realize that it was time to move to a bigger state that had better opportunities for me to show my talents and help other people become the best versions of themselves.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am a Travel Agent and a personal Chef. What sets me apart from others is that I have passion and love for both of these professions. I’m very outgoing and I love that I bring light to others. I am most proud of being an entrepreneur helping my customers and making them happy with my services that I offer. Four years ago I started being a Personal Chef for the DFW metro for million dollar clients and I found that I have a true passion for this. I found this was the happiest I have ever been in my entire life. The freedom to be creative, develop meal plans for my clients that have different medical backgrounds. Creating delicious healthy nutritious meals that will help them overcome their medical obstacles. It definitely was second nature to me, because I have always wanted to be a personal chef since I was fifteen years old. It would be difficult at times was most certainly worth it and very rewarding in the end. What I did in those situations that it was difficult is I did my research and I told my clients there is always a solution to any problem and I am here to take care of you. What I’ve learned while being both a personal chef and a travel agent is that you have to have amazing customer service, having a passion for these professions makes a huge difference. I learned that you will interact with people from different backgrounds and it’s amazing to be able to experience that and learn different things from them. I love helping people and making them happy. It makes me feel good as a person and entrepreneur. There’s no better feeling than your customers appreciating your hard work and referring you to other clients. I love being a happy person and making others feel good about themselves. Find your passion and peruse it. Being a Personal Chef and a Travel Agent has been life changing for me. I have learned so many wonderful things in both of these professions.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a best friend visiting the area, I would show them all of my favorite spots in Dallas/Fort Worth metro area. One place I would definitely recommend is The Reserve it’s located in Downtown Dallas. The Reserve is a nice spot they have good drinks, R&B night every Friday and you can play cards. I would also take them to the Stockyards in Fort Worth for delicious food and drinks, and to watch the Rodeo. There’s always food festivals and carnivals taking place in downtown Dallas every month that we could check out! We could go to STK, an upscale steakhouse, to take pictures and experience fine dinning. Houston is only four hours away from Fort Worth so we would go to my favorite restaurant Mastros Steakhouse. Very good food it’s also an upscale dinning restaurant where you can take cute pictures and enjoy the beautiful scenery.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I definitely would love to give a Shoutout to my bestfriend Kelli Yarbrough. If it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t even be in this travel business. She has been trying to get me into the business for over a year, and I finally took that leap faith and did it. Best decision of my life. Kelli has been very supportive and motivating. She is a phenomenal coach and is there through every step of the way.
