Meet KayKay | Mom , Entrepreneur, Owner of Kai’s Kloset

We had the good fortune of connecting with KayKay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi KayKay, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Oh man! Balance?! What’s that?! Lol. It’s been a journey none the less. Trying to maintain the 9-5 cooperate position, be a mommy of two perfect girls, all while learning and growing within the industry has definitely been a challenge. I can say being able to work from home, since Covid , has helped a lot with managing my time overall. I have always been very particular and a planner so being able to prioritize or focus on one task is easy for me.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I always knew that there was a special calling or a different route that I should be in. I’ve been told my whole life that I was different. I also never expected to be a mother of two beautiful girls who both have completely different personalities. My oldest who is prissy, high maintenance and social and my youngest who love outdoors and animals. Around my daughter‘s fourth birthday she told me that she wanted to work for supermarket and her main interest was greeting customers and selling clothes. So Kai definitely brought the idea to me and as the mom (boss) I definitely wanted to show her that there is no limits to what she can do. That she cannot only work for supermarket but that she could own one. Her own! I can honestly say it was not easy. I prayed a lot and I also read a lot. I procrastinated and probably lost more money than I should have when starting which can start to be discouraging. But we couldn’t stop, we had to keep going. I want her to know that she’s different and that’s OK. I want her to be able to freely express her self around her peers and love ones. All kids clothes should be affordable, trendy and should represent the best versions of themselves!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
You cannot visit Dallas without viewing our city lights after dark Downtown. They are plenty of Nice steak houses and restaurants to visit in the uptown area as well as the Bishop Arts area. The Ft Worth Zoo is always fun when the weather is nice, But there’s also inside places to have fun such as Epic Waters which is the indoor waterpark and also a different variety of arcades and game rooms with good eats.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I most definitely have to first thank God because without Him there is no vision. Secondly my mom,who is always supportive, always praying, and always there every step of the way. And I also want to thank my good friend Sassy Nye, Owner of Sassy Gal Co. She was the first person who I told about my business when it was just an “idea” of mine a year ago. She gave me nothing but free game and is always encouraging and pushing me to do more!
