Meet Katie Weiss | Marketing Consultant & Certified Business Coach

We had the good fortune of connecting with Katie Weiss and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katie, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
For years, people would say, “You should be doing this on your own,” but I kept putting it off. Deep down, I was waiting for a clear sign from the Lord. So, I finally asked Him—if this was what He wanted for me and my girls, to make it unmistakably clear. And in His faithfulness, He did just that. Within days, multiple clients reached out, asking for help. That’s when GoldenEdge Strategies was born—rooted in faith, grit, and a desire to help small business owners grow with clarity and confidence.
While I’ve never doubted my ability to help others grow—I’ve been doing it for years behind the scenes—my biggest fear was putting myself out there. I’m an introvert at heart. I’ll shout from the rooftops for my clients, but turning that spotlight on myself felt incredibly uncomfortable. I used to hide in the background, but as a StoryBrand Certified Guide, Business Made Simple Coach, and Unreasonable Hospitality Coach, I know firsthand how important it is to lead with clarity and confidence.
My 12 years working in high-pressure political environments taught me to communicate effectively, pivot under pressure, and lead with strategy. But it was my personal story that really shaped my heart for this work. Walking through intense personal hardship, rebuilding from the ground up, and doing so as a single mom—sharpened my problem-solving skills and deepened my empathy. I’ve learned that asking for help doesn’t make you weak—it makes you wise—the “Who, Not How” mindset changed how I approach life and business.“Self-made is a myth. Success is a team sport.” – Dan Sullivan.
I’m passionate about helping others uncover blind spots, develop a message that connects, and build a strategy that aligns with their goals. My business is personal because I know what it’s like to start over, feel stuck, and be unsure of what’s next. But I also know the freedom and joy from clarity, support, and the right strategy.
At GoldenEdge Strategies, I partner with business owners ready to grow without overwhelm—and that’s exactly what I was created to do.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
GoldenEdge Strategies was born from one of my life’s most unexpected and challenging seasons. Five years ago, I was a stay-at-home mom—28 weeks pregnant with my second daughter—when everything I thought I knew about my life changed overnight. I went from what felt like stability to having to rebuild completely, and in that rebuilding, God gave me a new purpose.
Over a decade of experience working in high-pressure political environments taught me how to think quickly, communicate clearly, and lead strategically. I’ve since combined that background with certifications as a StoryBrand Guide, Business Made Simple Coach, and Unreasonable Hospitality Coach. Today, I use that training and life experience to help other business owners find the clarity and confidence they need to grow.
Here’s what I’ve learned: most people go about marketing all wrong. They try to be the story’s hero, but your customer is the real hero. Your business? You’re the guide.
People don’t buy the best products—they buy the ones they understand the fastest. That’s why clarity beats cleverness every single time. Your message needs to focus on the problem your product solves and show how your customer’s life will be better because of it.
At GoldenEdge Strategies, I help you simplify your message and create a marketing plan that works—without all the overwhelm.
If you’ve ever found yourself spinning your wheels, unsure how to talk about what you do or how to reach the right people—I get it. I’ve been there, and I want to help.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We’d kick things off with coffee and beignets at PJ’s Coffee—because what better way to start the trip than with caffeine and something sweet? From there, we’d swing by Lemon Cake Boutique on Vickery. It’s a favorite local spot filled with stylish finds that will make anyone feel confident and beautiful.
Then, we’d spend the afternoon soaking in the charm of the Historic Stockyards. We’d catch the cattle drive, wander the shops, and stop into Hotel Drover to take in the scene (and maybe snap a few pics because it’s just that pretty).
We’re heading to the patio at Joe T. Garcia’s for lunch because it’s a Fort Worth rite of passage. The margaritas, the atmosphere, the chips and salsa—there’s always a vibe.
We’d slow things down for dinner and savor an elegant meal at Ellerbe Fine Foods. Thoughtful service, seasonal ingredients, and a cozy yet refined setting are the perfect way to end the day.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I could not tell my story without crediting the people who helped carry me through the hardest and most defining seasons of my life.
First and foremost, I want to thank my family. They have walked with me through every high and low and were there when my world flipped upside down in 2020. Their love, support, and willingness to step in—no questions asked—saved me and my girls. I’ll never stop being grateful for that.
I also want to thank the incredible mentors and coaches I’ve met through the StoryBrand, Business Made Simple, and Unreasonable Hospitality communities. Donald Miller and Dr. J.J. Peterson’s frameworks completely shifted how I view communication, leadership, and what it means to truly serve others. These tools—and the people I’ve met through them—have given me the confidence and clarity to show up boldly in my business.
To every client who has trusted me to help grow their business, thank you. Your faith in me fuels this work and reminds me daily why I do what I do. Watching your wins and growth has been one of the greatest honors of my career.
Finally, all glory goes to the Lord. Without His provision, I wouldn’t be where I am today. He has continued to show up in my life again and again, reminding me that broken beginnings can still lead to beautiful stories. Every time I doubted myself, He placed the right person, the right opportunity, or the right message in my path.
This journey has never been solely mine, and I’m so thankful for every single person who has helped me get here.
