We had the good fortune of connecting with Kathleen Ellerie, L.Ac., A.P., Dipl. O.M. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
One of the most rewarding things about getting to know so many entrepreneurs and creatives is seeing first-hand how many of them are focused on so much more than just financial results. So many of the folks we connect with are focused on having a positive social impact on their community or the world at large. Can you talk to us about how you are helping the community?
Beachside Community Acupuncture PLLC was created to make the world a better place. On a smaller scale, we keep our treatments affordable so that every person can have access to quality holistic healthcare, no matter what his or her circumstances. All of our patients receive the same level of attentiveness and compassion with no regard to their income level, ethnicity, gender identification, sexual orientation, or age, and having such a diverse mix of people healing together in our community treatment room is a beautiful thing. We help our patients overcome health obstacles so that they feel motivated to impact the world with their unique gifts. On a larger scale, we aim to benefit the world at large by inspiring the public to believe in the innate healing power of their bodies through our newsletters, blogs, and online courses and Kathleen’s book Healing Beachside: Making Natural Health as Easy as a Beach Vacation. We are also very concerned about the world’s oceans and beaches and donate 10% of our quarterly profits to non-profit organizations and new businesses that work toward marine conservation.
What should our readers know about your business?
Beachside was voted “Best Acupuncture” in Addison Guide’s 2019 Readers’ Choice Awards, and Top Rated Local ranked us as “Best Acupuncture in Texas” in 2019, both of which bring us a great amount of pride. More than that, though, we truly enjoy seeing our patients have faith in their bodies again as they overcome chronic pain, anxiety, insomnia, infertility, and a wide variety of other health conditions. Our culture sets us up to see symptoms as things to be beaten down, not as clues that the body gives us to help it heal. We find great joy in helping others rethink wellness and believe that life should not be characterized by suffering and fatigue. We’ve evolved over the years, but our mission has always been the same: To provide quality acupuncture at affordable rates in a relaxing and refreshing environment. Especially with everything that’s been going on in 2020, our patients appreciate having a restful place where they can take a short “vacation” and heal.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
There is so much to see in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, but we are obviously biased toward anything by the water. Our favorite hangout is called The Sound, and although it’s not close to the skyscrapers and tourist attractions of downtown Dallas or the Western charm of the Fort Worth Stockyards, it’s worth visiting for its restaurants, hiking trails, dog park, yard games, fountains, and live events, all of which overlook a beautiful lake.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Beachside would not be where it is today without the support of wonderful people, especially Kathleen’s parents Reid and Sandy, her fiancé Tuomas, our receptionists, our social media company, and of course, our fantastic patients.
