Hi Karmen, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
When I first embarked on the journey of starting my own business, the motivation behind it was clear and personal. From a young age, I felt a deep sense of purpose to uplift others, particularly women. Growing up, I struggled with confidence, especially when it came to my style and appearance. I often wore things that didn’t quite fit in with my peers—sometimes due to financial limitations, other times because of my desire to express creativity.

As I matured, that sense of wanting to uplift others only grew stronger. I wanted to offer the support and empowerment I had always longed for. Additionally, despite not having the financial means to indulge in high-end fashion, I’ve always had a taste for elegance and class.

With my brand, I aim to embody everything I’ve come to love—creativity, confidence, and sophistication—and make every woman feel beautiful, regardless of her social status, style, or circumstances. My hope is that it serves as both a reminder and a source of inspiration: that beauty and confidence are for everyone.

What sets me apart is my unwavering commitment to no longer conforming to the expectations of others. I’ve fully embraced my uniqueness and I do so unapologetically. Above all, I’m incredibly proud of my business and the journey my family and I have taken to get to this point.

I’m especially excited about my upcoming summer collection, European Summers. It’s a reflection of my growth and vision, and I can’t wait to share it with the world.

The road to where I am today hasn’t been easy. It’s been built on hard work, a willingness to meet new people, and establishing meaningful connections with those who inspire me. I’ve overcome many obstacles through prayer, surrounding myself with uplifting individuals, and continually reflecting on my roots.

I’ve learned that you are the author of your own story. The only thing that can hold you back from your greatest potential is yourself. If you trust in God and stay committed, anything is possible.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend were to visit the city, there are a few places I’d definitely take her to experience. For lunch, we’d head to Outthewayeats, a local Black-owned Jamaican restaurant that serves amazing, authentic cuisine. For dinner, I’d take her to The Charlotte, a spot I’m currently absolutely obsessed with.

Afterward, we’d indulge in a relaxing spa day at World Springs, followed by some sunbathing by the pool at The Thompson. To make the day even more special, we’d get our makeup done at SoftTouchByKaia and our hair styled by CocButterStyles—both are my go-to for feeling and looking fabulous.For a fun night out, we’d hit up some of my favorite spots, including Izkinia, Safari, and Nowhere —each offering a unique vibe and unforgettable energy. It would be the perfect mix of beauty, relaxation, and lively fun!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my family, particularly my mom, sister, and Auntie Tina. Their love, support, and inspiration have shaped me in ways I could never fully express. They continue to motivate me beyond measure, and I am forever grateful for their unwavering presence in my life.
