We had the good fortune of connecting with Karen Kaiser and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Karen, as a parent, what do you feel is the most meaningful thing you’ve done for them?
The most important thing I’ve done as a parent is to teach my children to give to others. Whether leading by example or actively engaging them in giving, I always do my best to teach my children to be kind and compassionate towards others.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I make handmade clothing for toddlers and kiddos. Most recently, I’ve dedicated my sewing energy to creating and donating over 300 cloth masks for community members. I shifted towards making masks once Covid-19 hit and I decided to make a few fun prints for our pediatrician and her staff at Centennial Pediatrics. The demand became to great that I was making masks daily and putting them on my front porch in a bin for anyone to swing by and pick up. I made a commitment to never charge for a mask and I’ve donated over 300 masks to teachers, pastors, medical staff, veterans, and other community members.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Well, because of Covid 19, we’d likely spend a lot of time just hanging out at my house and playing with our children! But if it were safe to go out into the community, we’d definitely spend some time at Little Elm Beach, The Railyard, Summer Moon Coffee, and Andy’s Custard.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom is the one who taught me how to sew year ago and my parents bought me a sewing machine (and graciously stored it in their basement for years until I had space for it in my house!) My friend Maddie Edgerton (Owner of Sweets by Maddie) was a great sounding board for me as I decided to start selling clothing and other handmade goods.
