We had the good fortune of connecting with Kadean Long and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Kadean, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
Time. Time is the most important thing to me as a person. Growing up in foster care I lost a lot of time not only physically but mentally. I unfortunately went right into life at age 11 due to the unfortunate circumstances with my parents, so I had to grow up faster then anyone should be required to do so. Currently I am a manager at an automotive shop witch does require me to be all hands on deck sometimes, but I try to spend as much time with the people I love versus being on the clock. It’s easy for us to get lost in the paycheck especially in today’s economy, so I try not to let that overstep into my personal life as much as possible.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I own a small business called Spoiledwhips Automotive that I do things out of every now and then, it involves me, my brother and a couple of friends I now call family that I met through the automotive industry and our love for cars. I manage an Automotive shop for my full time work and in my free time we like to do randomized content on us working on our personal projects along with some customer projects as well. vast majority of it is us messing just having a good time doing what we love. We do other things as well like team outings, we go to car shows, host our own car shows etc.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Houston Texas will honestly forever have my heart. I’ve had probably the most fun I’ve ever had in Houston, Baytown area. All my friends are pretty into the same stuff I am, cars and anime haha, so I would have to give it to H town. They used to have a really sick automotive scene back when some of the bigger events were being hosted like Texas2k’s racing event before the track got demolished, but there still is a pretty cool scene out that way. From drift cars to drag cars to slabs they have got it all haha, but yes Houston you got me for life.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My support system. There are so many names I can’t even name them all. So many awesome people have helped me along the way it’s insane, funny enough some people I haven’t even spoken with in some time in which I need to change that haha. Long story short my close circle including my older brother Lorenzo, and my fiancée Sarah have been my two biggest supporters. I couldn’t mentally be where I am without them.
