We had the good fortune of connecting with Julie O’Leary and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Julie, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I consider myself an eco-organizer. One of my main goals when helping clients declutter is to keep as much out of the landfill as possible. We donate what we can, but there are always items that can’t be donated. Whether it’s old t-shirts, socks or clothes beyond their wearable life, old electronics or even styrofoam, we have resources to help recycle and reuse these items greatly limiting the number of items being thrown out.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m fortunate to have had a very unique career path that has gotten me to this point. After spending 10 years in the aviation industry, I decided to pursue a lifelong passion of becoming a pastry chef and attended Le Cordon Bleu academy which was an amazing experience. I explored several positions in the culinary industry but found it to be a passion rather than a career path for me which has allowed me to continue baking as a hobby.

Looking back on my career, many of the positions I have had have required many of the traits and skills that are needed as a Professional Organizer. Whether providing detailed flight packages for diplomatic flights or specific recipe execution for a large event, being detail oriented and highly organized has led to success in all of those positions.

As with any job or career, there have been a number of challenges along the way and I don’t think I could’ve ever scripted my journey to today. As many people spend their entire life trying to find their passions, I feel fortunate that I was able to find Professional Organizing as a career path that highlights my skill set and can be so fulfilling to see the results for my clients.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
As a fairly new resident to the DFW area myself, I’m still finding and exploring all of the great things the city has to offer. With that said, I do have a few favorites and being closer to Fort Worth, find myself more familiar in that area but have found some great spots in Dallas as well.

A must stop spot in downtown Fort Worth for a great meal, whether lunch or dinner, is The Little Red Wasp. As a Canadian from Calgary, home of the Calgary Stampede, I’m partial to a visit to the Stockyards where Mule Alley or some of the classic spots are always great for visitors and residents alike to visit for a taste of Texas.

The DFW area always brings in great concerts and sporting events but if you’re into a more relaxing day, a stop at the Dallas Arboretum or the Fort Worth Botanic Garden both showcase great scenery and history of DFW.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
In 2019, I found a book at the library called “The Home Edit” and was inspired by their creativity, drive and success. I also enjoy listening to the Pro Organizer Studio Podcast, a business building resource for professional organizers. Since committing to organizing full time, I’ve connected with a number of inspiring women, too many to name here, that have helped me along my journey. It is an incredible network of people that continue to support and help me, and one another grow both personally and professionally.
I also have to give a shout-out to my husband who has been with me every step of the way willing to help and support in any way he can.
