We had the good fortune of connecting with Josiah Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Josiah, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind the success of myself and our church is who we are – endurance. Since the inception of Endurance Church we have learned to persevere through the ups and the downs that we have faced. It has been endurance, the ability to withstand and sustain that has brought about our success and growth as a church. In leading Endurance Church I never imagined that the name of our church would be a factor that would be essential to my success as a husband, father, pastor and leader. Endurance has reshaped my understanding of success and has shown that opportunity for growth is available on the mountain top and in the valley. Though endurance is often associated with the ability to make it through hard times, I have learned that it is much more than that. It is also the ability to sustain the passion, drive and motivation that caused you to start. This has become the it factor behind who I am and who my church is.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Our church started with a vision that my wife and I had to see people in the greater Fort Worth area come to experience community and genuine faith in Jesus. We launched Endurance Church with the intent to give people a place to belong while also creating a space for people to creatively express and share their faith. This endeavor has by no means been easy…From preparing to start our church and having nearly everything stolen 5 days before we were supposed to start, to moving from in-person services to online only 6 months in because of a world pandemic, it has not been easy.
Through our experiences we have learned to lean on God and trust that he is working all things together for our good as we pursue the vision of leading others to Him. Embracing and encouraging creativity has been at the forefront of who we are at Endurance Church. Before ever officially starting our church Endurance Worship was birthed and has been creating music through songwriting and writing original songs for our church and others to worship along with. In a fast pace and changing world I believe that the church must lean on creativity in sharing its message of hope and grace.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For a week long trip in Forth Worth, I would say we have some of the best BBQ around! I would say to start off with a trip to the historic stock yards to see the cattle drive and finish up with a hearty meal at Cooper’s Old Time Pit BBQ. If you’re looking for a quiet place to hang out, I would say hit up Kindred Coffee Co for an evening pick-me-up. A beautiful and serene place of reflection can be found at the Fort Worth Water Gardens where all you can hear is the sound of waterfalls all around you. Finally a place that I would suggest to visit here in Fort Worth would be Tanger Outlets. You can shop, eat, hang out and even get a little exercise in! Plus who couldn’t use a visit to Buc-ee’s next door?! Oh, and if you’re looking for a place to worship on Sunday before you head out, stop by Endurance Church!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My wife, Courtney Garcia! She holds our family of 6 together while working full-time, going to school and serving alongside me at Endurance Church. I would not be who I am or where I am today without her.
