We had the good fortune of connecting with Josh Neuberger and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Josh, what do you attribute your success to?
It’s hard to pin the success of the brand to just one factor — it’s really the combination of several working together. First, the strength and generosity of our community has been incredible. People rally behind the causes we support, and that passion fuels everything we do. Second, we’ve made the player and coach experience our top priority. Every decision is filtered through the question, “Will this make the day more fun and memorable for everyone involved?” Lastly, my own background in technology, organization, and design has helped us create streamlined processes, engaging visuals, and an overall experience that feels professional yet personal. Together, those elements have been the foundation of our growth and success.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
PineRiders started as a simple idea — to bring people together through slow-pitch softball while raising money for causes that truly matter. What sets us apart is the balance between competition and community impact. We’re not just running tournaments; we’re creating experiences where every player, coach, and fan feels valued, while also making a tangible difference for local charities.

The journey hasn’t been easy. Starting from scratch meant investing my own resources, building processes, and wearing multiple hats — from event coordinator to marketer to designer. There were moments of uncertainty, but the vision of what PineRiders could become kept me pushing forward. Over time, I’ve learned the importance of listening to the community, staying adaptable, and keeping the player experience at the heart of every decision.

What I’m most proud of is seeing people come back event after event, not just for the games, but for the friendships, the fun, and the causes we support. My hope is that the world sees the PineRiders as proof that sports can be more than just competition — they can be a vehicle for connection, generosity, and lasting change.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend was visiting, we’d kick things off at Klyde Warren Park — the perfect spot to enjoy some sunshine, grab a bite from the food trucks, and people-watch. Then we’d head to the Fort Worth Stockyards for a taste of Texas history, live music, and maybe even catch a rodeo.

One day would be set aside for the Dallas Arboretum, especially if it’s spring or fall when the gardens are at their most colorful. For food, Velvet Taco is a must — creative tacos you can’t get anywhere else — and The Truck Yard for laid-back vibes, cold drinks, and live music in an outdoor setting.

If time allows, we’d sprinkle in local coffee shops, a night game or concert, and maybe a day trip to explore more of the surrounding DFW gems.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to two groups who’ve been the foundation of the PineRiders from the very start. First, our incredible community — the players, coaches, sponsors, and supporters who saw the vision for what this could be and rallied behind it. Without their belief and involvement, none of this would exist. Second, my closest support system — my wife and immediate friends — who have rolled up their sleeves, taken on the tough behind-the-scenes work, and made sure this idea not only got off the ground but continues to grow and run smoothly. I’m grateful for every single one of them.
