We had the good fortune of connecting with Jose Moore and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jose, how does your business help the community?
As a mortgage advisor I have the pleasure of helping people achieve the ultimate American dream in purchasing a home. Buying the home is just the first stepping stone, in this business when you take initiative to help people understand the process of buying a home and the benefits of owning your home. You’re able to help with building wealth and providing valuable information that could be passed down for generations. I don’t take this opportunity to make an impact in our community lightly and for every family I am able to help I can go to sleep at night knowing I impacted someone’s life in a positive way.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others in this industry I think is my accessibility, communication, and personality. I try to be initial with every one I interact with. In some form or fashion, my goal when I met someone is to give them a memorable experience. Whether that’s with the information I am providing, my personality, or just being a great listener and supporter. If I take that approach everyday with every client I know that I am differentiating myself from the other mortgage advisors out there.

Before I started with Caliber Home Loans I had a bit of a roller coaster career wise. It took me about 2-3 years from graduating college to find a career I love and can see myself retiring from. The road was not easy, being so young trying to break into a aging industry where most of the people being considered for the job has more experience and most times industry related experience.

Being a athlete nearly my entire life from the age of 9 until I was 23, I faced a lot of adversity. Which prepared me for life and the road ahead. My first job out of college was in sales at Northwestern Mutual, it was a tough experience but I didn’t last long due to a few reasons. I tried starting my own business and for 6 months it felt like it was going somewhere until I had to accept a part-time job with more income stability.

I found out quickly that I wasn’t good with stability, that may sound crazy but pressure and chaos gets me going. It could be the competitiveness in me, but when my back is against the wall I will excel every time. Once I realized that I knew I had to get back into sales, I wanted control over how much money I could make. Who I could impact and the freedom of time.

When its all said and done, I want to be able to look back and say I was somebody who made a impact on other people lives. I want my kids to know that their father was a selfless person who put others before him. To accomplish that I knew I had to get out of the complicacy of my former job. I had to put my skills to the test and see how far I am willing to go.

I want the world to know that if you go to sleep dreaming about the stars, you can wake up a find a way to shine. Dreams come true when you work as hard as you dream.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Well, I am not the best person for this question because I myself am still trying to figure out my go to itinerary. I move to Dallas during a rare time with the Covid-19 Pandemic, so I didn’t get the full Dallas experience.

But since everything opened up I will say my go to food would be Taco Y Mas. Their taco Tuesday’s are to die for, 1.99 tacos all day long on Tuesday. I like to run as well, so on a good Saturday morning I would recommend a nice jog to Klyde Warren Park. In this Texas heat you must get some good ice cream, Creamistry has the best ice cream I’ve ever tasted!

I am still working on my site seeing itinerary, but you can’t go wrong taking a trip down to Deep Ellum for good music and Drinks.

I have the Dallas Aquarium on my list as well, and lastly I want to visit SPA Castle for some good relaxation.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Since moving to Dallas right during the pandemic there was a lot of uncertainty as to how my life in the near future would plan out. I nearly doubled my cost of living moving from Arkansas to Dallas. Not having the security of a Salary to support that increase. I accepted a career opportunity where I have to be a self starter, motivated, persistent and willing to get out in the community to build connections. I had no family or connections to rely on to build my business here in Dallas. I knew I had to get out and work hard to be able to sustain the quality of life I desired.

With the help of Caliber Home Loans, our trainers at Caliber University, and last but not least my work Family. The Christian Johnson Group welcomed me with open arms. The training and support receive from this team has been instrumental in my progress so far in the mortgage industry. In order to succeed in life or any career, a team that supports you and hold you accountable is key.

This is who I have to thank for helping me get to where I am today.
