We had the good fortune of connecting with Jordan Sells and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jordan, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success would be remaining true to my authentic self. When I trust my gut and skillset, I am able to transform my client into a canvas. I truly believe that everyone is beautiful. With each opportunity I have to play “Fairy Glam Mother”, I’m able to share my interpretation of that person’s beauty. I base my applications around the best ways to highlight my client’s features, opposed to following trends and fads. I also never do the same look twice. My consistent transformations have given my clients a genuine reason to trust me. And I’m proud to say I never disappoint.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others, is my interpretation of beauty. I believe makeup should enhance a person’s natural features as opposed to covering them up. I am able to use colors and my cosmetic products to highlight and complement their appearance. I’ve been an artist for over 8 years, with experience working with both MAC and NYX Cosmetics. Those experiences have influenced me to approach beauty from not only a high fashion approach but a modern technique as well. Beauty is constantly changing and evolving, and my exposure to the industry has taught me to always keep an open mind and to be a continual learner. Willing to try every new trend that the beauty world produces. I want to be a master at blending techniques to make all looks wearable for everyone.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
A delicious dinner at Pangea Monday night, followed by Taco Tuesday at Vidorra. Wednesday afternoon is perfect for lunch at Turkey D.A.M. Thursday we would spend our evening at The Freeman. It’s a wonderful Jazz club with a fun atmosphere and great food. Most importantly, live music. Friday’s are best spent at Six Flags. You can’t let a sunny Saturday afternoon pass without visiting the Farmer’s Market. Lastly, we would close out the week listening to Pastor T.D. Jakes sermon at the Potter’s House Church.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mother. She is one of the reasons behind my drive today. She always motivates me to be the best version of myself. And she has no problem reminding me that I’m her daughter. Persevering and strong, my mother does whatever it takes to make things happen. She inspires me to stay focused and hustle. Most importantly, her continuous love and devotion provide me with the support I need to keep pursuing my dreams.
