Meet John O’Shea | Businessman and Candidate for Texas 12th Congressional District

We had the good fortune of connecting with John O’Shea and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi John, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
Psalm 23, “The Lord is My Sheppherd.” The Psalm says that God does not promise that this life will not be difficult – it will. But He will be with us always and if we turn to him, he will provide protection and give us what we need.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I started my career in community banking and left after 20 years with my last position being the president of and turning around a problem bank under a memorandum of understanding from the Federal Reserve. I then pursued a partnership whereby we acquired or started several aggregate quarries, concrete plants, a construction company, and developed real estate. I am putting aside my business pursuits now to enter public service as an elected congressman. Our country is teetering between two paths – one that leads us back to our Constitutional roots and restores the power back to “We the People” and another that leads to Marxist authoritarianism. I want to be part of the process to right this ship and will dedicate myself fully to that task.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would say in order to get a feel for the true Fort Worth experience, you would have to visit Sundance Square and then spend the evening in the Stockyards. I would make sure my friend had an opportunity to see the artistic side of Fort Worth by taking him to the Bass Performance Center and the Amon Carter and Kimball Museums. We would have to include a trip to the Botanical Gardens as well as our award winning zoo. As far as cuisine and ambience, I would make sure the trip included the Fort Worth Club, Railhead Barbeque, Joe T. Garcia’s. Lucille’s, Lili’s Bistro, the Wicked Butcher, and La Piola, because not only is it my favorite Italian restaurant, but it also used to be my Dad’s billing office when he was Chief of Pathology at Fort Worth Osteopathic Hospital.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My good friend and inspiration Ken Paxton, the best Attorney General in the country. He walked away from a very lucrative independent legal practice to pursue a life of service to this state. He has faced intense scrutiny and very public, unfair attacks, such as the recent Texas House impeachment. And yet Ken has not backed down once out of self-interest, but continues to fight the good fight for all Texans.
