We had the good fortune of connecting with Jo Serrano and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jo, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Reel Productions started with the idea of combining three talented artists/ producers (My long time friend George Villa and makeup artist, Marilyn Moreno) to create powerful stories for brands and people. We offer Photography, Videography, Branding which includes graphic design, wedding media and marketing direction for small business. This teams exists because we love the challenge of creating engaging brand narratives that are made to inspire action.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Reel Productions came at a time where we needed to expand into a complete brand and creative production house. I have known George for 5 years now and I can read him on set or in the editing room without him even needing to say anything and Marilyn is the glue that keeps the production company running. George and I see the world from a design point of view whether we are working on a project or on a daily basis so telling stories visually comes naturally to us. We are fully crafted in-house with our deep bench of experience and knowledge from working with previous brands and businesses, so we thought why not finally come together under one name. We get to know our clients and their story and that is the root of the product we provide. We work with real people, real stories. Whether you need a big brand film or bite-sized content or a logo, Reel will make it cinematic, visually pleasing and professional.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’m grateful for the shout out for sure. I dedicate this to my parents. At 21 years old they moved to a new country, knew little English, (which they picked up from listening to country music while washing dishes in a restaurant), they started a little restaurant and at night while raising a family they continued their studies with their 3 children after leaving Mexico with no education at all. Everything my parents did was a learning experience. Their work ethic is all I know. Last but not definitely not least, to Maly. For real.
