We had the good fortune of connecting with Jimmy Bodies Sr. and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jimmy, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
As an entrepreneur work like balance can be tough pending the your industry. For my industry of construction it never stops in the DFW Metroplex, there are a lot of 6 to 7 days of 14 hour plus work weeks. Over the years I’ve learned balance by simply pre-planning and scheduling what I call “me” days. These are days that are precommunicated with my team and clients that i will not be available but also a plan of action if important decision are needed to be made.
Entrepreneurial burnout is real and can drastically impact your business if you aren’t careful with managing your health first and foremost and secondly the one thing we all want more of “Time.”
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Alpha Choice Construction Services, LLC is all inclusive construction company I started in 2019. We specialize in home renovations and complete home remodeling. As of 2020 we’ve now started to do more commercial build outs on the commercial side of construction with out latest project at Grapevine Mills Mall.
I’m most exciting about the hardest part of the business is handling the growth, growth is something that everyone think is the good thing about owning a business when it’s the hardest part about owning a business. Growth brings challenges at you fast that you may not be prepared for, example will be the more you grow the more company expenses you have the more insurance coverage you need and most importantly the more you have to continue to find the “Right” fit of employees to grow with you.
I got to this point of owning a successful construction company but simply betting on myself, I was actually laid off from another construction firm and never wanted to experience that feeling again, but it was also a blessing because it gave me and opportunity to finally go after my dreams and it obviously has paid off.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of my favorite places to dine in at is called “The Henry” it has a really dope rooftop vibe and right feel of chill vibes and luxury.
Mesaro hands down is one of the best places to go during the week for happy hour, I haven’t been social much lately due to work but when I am I’m typically at a brunch or something simple.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d definitely to shout my support system my fitness trainer Micah @_bravo.fit_ for keep me in shape physically and mentally. My close friends, family members and my employees for all keeping me motivated and accountable.
