Meet Jessica Rivera | Owner of Hot Trash Junk Removal and Haute Collections

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Rivera and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jessica, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
A healthier work life balance is one of the primary reasons my husband and I decided to take this leap of faith. Gabe was driving commercially for Walmart and was constantly away from home. Time spent together was devoted to preparing for the next week.
As a former teacher, I enjoyed a schedule very similar to my kids. There’s a misconception that teachers have this abundance of time off. On paper, that certainly looks true. However, teaching is a very stressful and demanding profession. Our “days off” often include work that needs to happen in order to run our classrooms smoothly. I currently get to spend so much more time with my husband since we’ve started this venture and have also been able to include the kids, making this so much fun for us.

What should our readers know about your business?
We have two businesses we are launching concurrently because they complement each other.
Hot Trash Junk Removal
Our junk removal company is different in several ways:
1. I bring a unique perspective to junk removal as a cancer survivor, former educator, and mom. Junk is tricky. It can be sentimental. It can be overwhelming. It can be embarrassing, messy, humiliating, and devastating. Junk removal requires compassion and empathy, which I know all about.
2. As a former commercial driver, my husband brings knowledge of not only CDL/DOT regulations but also other safety practices related to loading, securing, transporting, and unloading items.
3. Speaking to potential leads while marketing has revealed that many people are tired of “junk removal” companies that come in beat up trucks, taking only valuable items and not competing a job with pride. We love serving others and feel that our distinctive customer service sets us apart.
Haute Collections
Haute Collections is our way to not only prevent potential treasures from ending up in landfills but also giving new life to what otherwise would be viewed as trash. We’re going to do big things. As a book lover, seeing books in the trash hurts my heart. We’re going to fill free libraries! That’s just one example.
