We had the good fortune of connecting with Jessica Demus and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jessica, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
GabrielSmiles Nonprofit was created to honor my son Gabriel who passed away in May of 2017 from complications from Cerebral Palsy. GabrielSmiles my ministry along with my healing. If I can teach one individual about Cerebral Palsy through this process then I’ve done my job as an advocate and as a mom with a child who has Cerebral Palsy 💚

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
GabrielSmiles Nonprofit mission is to bring awareness to Cerebral Palsy through community service, scholarship for students in Special Education and to SMIlE!

Cerebral Palsy is brain damage that happened before or during birth. The following factors can increase the risk for congenital CP: Being born too small, being born too early, being born a twin or other multiple birth, being conceived by in vitro fertilization or other assisted reproductive technology external icon, having a mother who had an infection during pregnancy, having kernicterus or having complications during birth. GabrielSmiles has a scholarship program that’s gear towards student in special education. Showcasing just because your in special education doesn’t mean you can not seek higher education. I would want the world to know about GabrielSmiles to keep being Awareness to Cerebral Palsy and keep smiling just like Gabriel has done!
