We had the good fortune of connecting with Jerry Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jerry, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to do something that I am really passionate about then share it with everyone.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’ve been shooting pictures for 40 years I put my camera away for awhile because I got burned out from shooting weddings in the 80’s land scapes, nature, and family. I wasn’t having fun anymore. I picked up a digital camera in the early 90’s a suggestion from a coworker Chris Groves I was working as a HVAC tech at the time. I shot friends and family for a while that was ok but the passion still was there yet another close friend of mine Dennis Meredith told me to buy a canon 5D mark IV I did this camera and I fell in love with each other, I love the images it was producing I was hooked, I learned as much as I could about the digital camera. I got into shooting people again, after shooting friends parties more family photos I decided to try shooting girls that wanted to be models. I got onto Instagram Facebook for Photography and my own web page sharpimage101.com. I contacted MANY models with little or no response I tried everything until one day I send a DM to lookingforlani on IG she responded I told her I wanted to shoot her portrait in my studio she said she wasn’t comfortable coming to a home studio I told her to bring anyone she wanted to the shoot she brought her boyfriend Andrew. I shot 172 pictures of her we were published in several magazines we have shot together 9 times., since that shoot I have shot about 35 different models shot for fish city grill restuarant southwest galleries. Being a Photographer in a digital word is very tough when everyone that picks up a camera can put it in auto shoot great shots. What I offer that others don’t is the passion that I put into every image and how hard I work to get them an image they have never seen before. The biggest challenge I’ve had to over come is my own anxiety and self confidence, how do I overcome it I put a camera in my hand. I came from a small town in Michigan shooting film I forced myself to learn how to use a digital camera because I thought I had something different I could offer to who ever stepped in front of my lens I still believe that today.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would show them Deep Ellum lots of art things there have lunch at fish city one day second day go to McKinney very rustic down town they have some great taverns to have lunch or dinner. third day down town Dallas very cosmopolitan they have places to eat under the city. Fourth day Fort Worth very western they have a great barbecue place. Day five go to grapevine they have a heritage festival with all sorts of sidewalk food to eat.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?

I also have to say thank you to my sister Colleen for getting me started in the digital world.
