We had the good fortune of connecting with Jenny Baum and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jenny, how do you think about risk?
When it comes to taking a risk in life we have to have faith in all that we do. I was in a position at the time working 45 hour weeks on top of running all of my Camp Gladiator camps weekly. I did that for a little over 2 years. I was financially secure, but I wasn’t truly happy. I have learned that money doesn’t buy happiness at all, and I was never allowing myself to fill my own cup. I had no down or free time, all I was doing was running on fumes. I was scared to let go of a job I had been at for over 6 years. We all get comfortable and love living in our own comfort zones. Plus the income between the 2 jobs was awesome. Why would I leave something so great?! I knew I needed to risk taking a huge pay cut in order to due what I love full time. I would go back and forth in my mind, like is my happiness worth risking a job with full benefits making a lot of money?! With a little push from my family and close friends I decided to take that leap of faith to pursue Camp Gladiator full time. It was and is still the biggest blessing to be able to do what I love every single day. To know I have a positive impact on others is worth it all!! So if you’re thinking to yourself that change scares you, well you know what TAKE THE RISK!!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
In April 2023 will mark 5 years of me being a personal trainer with Camp Gladiator. I attended CG for 2 years prior to becoming a personal trainer. I went through a rough patch in life, and I needed to find myself. CG allowed for me to be exactly who I wanted to be and more. It took one person to believe in me enough to say hey YOU need to be a trainer and help impact others the way your life was changed. Stephanie Ridder was that person. She helped me in every way possible to make it happen. Was it an easy journey?! No not at all, but hey nothing in life worth having comes easy. One thing I think that sets me a part from others is that I am understanding and patient with others. I have a huge heart & I train people because I am passionate about it. I have been on the other side, I was the girl that needed to lose 80 lbs (& I did), I know what it’s like to be a beginner, but I also know that it’s worth it all. We are always thrown curve balls and lessons, but it’s how we change our mindset to always see the positive and how to make it through. Again I love helping others learn how to love themselves and be comfortable in their own skin. I am a personal trainer, & I just recently got certified in nutrition and a health coach & it’s the BEST. I am looking forward to what all 2023 and it’s going to be the best year yet!!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My number one would be my favorite which is queso and a good margarita. It’s always fun to venture into Dallas to Mi Cocina in Klyde Warren Park. There is so much to do around the DFW area, but a few top things I would pick are going somewhere to catch a game going on, the Perot Museum, & also just walk around the epic in Grand Prairie, also who doesn’t like to do a little shopping around all the towns!!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Special shoutouts would be my family, my close group of friends, my campers who inspire me daily, and my 2 mentors Stephanie Ridder & Veronica Cruz. These people who I surround myself with believe in me more than I even believe in myself, They push me to be my best daily, They listen to me, & most importantly they love me for who I am. Without my support system I wouldn’t be where I am at today. So for that THANK YOU for simply everything!!
