We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Galvan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, what is the most important factor behind your success?
For me it is all about finding my “why”. For me I’m here to help and serve others. Also, my family is very important to me and being able to provide a better life for them than I had growing up is huge.

Helping people buy a home is a very emotional process and when you communicate to your clients that you care about them and are there to help them provide a home for their family you create relationships and clients for life. I don’t really pay for any marketing currently and have grown my business based on 100% referral business. Past clients telling their family and friends about me and referring them to me. Because at the end of the day I am there to help them from the beginning of the process through the end and even beyond closing. Staying in constant contact and communication and even over communicating helps put my clients more at ease throughout the process. When you strive to do the right things and operate with integrity good things follow.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
It is very random how I came into the mortgage lending industry. I went from a music teacher with 10 years experience teaching in the public schools to a mortgage broker. Although it wasn’t overnight. After my husband and I had our third son we had to re-acess our jobs and work life balance. Our youngest son was born with a hearing impairment which requires bi lateral hearing aids and has needed lots of therapy. It was very difficult with both of us working full time jobs. And the amount of time I needed to leave school early or take off to get our son to appointments and therapies just wasn’t worth the time and effort to also try and work full time. My husband owns an exterior cleaning business and we decided the amount of money we would save in childcare was worth the income we would lose by me quitting teaching. So I stayed home to take care of the family and helped my husband with this business when I could. Shortly after that at the beginning of 2018 a very good friend of my husbands opened his own mortgage brokerage and asked me to get my license and I could work on loans on the side. That has blown up and now I do this as my full time career and all my kids have started school so it allows me more time to work and grow my business. Who knew I would go from music teacher to mortgage broker. But I love what I do and can’t imagine doing anything else. I wouldn’t trade my years teaching for anything but I also love where I am now in my career too. Sometimes God leads us down paths we don’t understand but he always has a greater plan for us. That’s how I feel. Still getting to help and serve but also providing a great life for my family.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If they have kids we are going to the Fort Worth Zoo, I love their new splash park and the animal exhibits are the best in the world. The botanical gardens for the children’s area and also the beautiful events they host in the main gardens are amazing. We love Grandscape from Andretti, to the outdoor concerts and beautiful outside fireplaces and lounging areas you can’t go wrong there. Mi Cocina is one of our go to Mexican food places , also a local place Called Craftway near our house has amazing brunch. My kids are also huge into sports we love going to the Dallas Stars Games and even just ice skating at the local Star Centers in McKinney , Plano , and Frisco. Great wolf lodge is always a hit, and the parks in Plano are just spectacular. We love to take our Golden Doodle Oliver walk or run on the trails near our home. Historic Mckinney has awesome food spots and great events. We just love this area and all it has to offer !

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Huge shoutout to my realtor partners. I am successful because of them. Creating a relationship of trust is key to them feeling comfortable enough to send me their clients. Debbie Stallings and her team at Fathom Realty have been great! Also, Rhonda Attaway at ReMax in Mansfield just to name a few. We all share a passion for helping and serving others so we get along great and make a great team. Also a huge shout out to my church community. We really support and uplift each other and just do life together when things get hard it’s great to have a support system to be able to lean on. My Husband was instrumental in me leaving a Salary Teaching job and jumping into self employment which can be very scary and unpredictable. It has been a wild ride but worth every minute. I wouldn’t be here today with his support and the support of my family.
