We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeffrey Mason and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jeffrey, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk is part of life and central to entrepreneurship. In business it is important to calculate the risk versus reward. Is the view at the top of your goal worth the climb? Failure is also part of the risk vs. reward equation. In my opinion, the best lessons of life are found in failure. What may look and feel like defeat might be an opportunity in disguise. I failed in my first two attempts to start companies. My third attempt worked and the business is now 14 years old. Without embracing risk I would not be where I am.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My book and podcast focus on increasing customer satisfaction. Discussing the avoidance of “Silent Business Killers” sets us apart from many other business improvement voices. Our timeless tools encourage healthy, customer-focused professional conduct that leads to high repeat and referral rates. Feedback from some book readers and podcast followers are reinforcing our “fresh” and “unique” information. This excites us because we are delivering small, tangible tools that can have a positive impact on improving customer perceptions and transaction happiness. The book preparation has been a 30-year project. My career has served as a creative experience providing SimpleBiz360 content. In many ways, I feel like a photographer that took three decades of situational snapshots to be shared with future generations. My journey was exciting knowing that some of these business encounters would be incorporated into a “pay-it-forward” manuscript for business improvement. This deliberate posture made my career fun, exciting and rewarding. Third party voices have also played an enormous role in my professional development. Reading books, attending seminars and listening to other professionals have paved my path. I admire messaging that is simple and easy to understand. To the best of our ability, we have designed SimpleBiz360 Timeless Business Tools to fit this mold. My goal is to be easy on the eyes and ears. We hope our book is fun to read and that our podcast is akin to having a cup of coffee with a friend.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
First things first. Pick anyone of the fine steakhouses and dig in. I’d make sure the rest of the week would include a Cowboy Stadium tour, a trip to the Fort Worth Stockyards, an out-and-back to Waco. The weather is phenomenal, so we would enjoy plenty of outdoor cafes and various trail walks.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My wife. Her name is Monica Mason.
