We had the good fortune of connecting with JAYSTRONG and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi JAYSTRONG, how do you think about risk?
I learned a long time ago, little risk, little reward, big risk, big reward. I also know that having the right people in your corner, will help make the right calculated risk. One of my biggest supporters, and partners is my wife/manager. She has pushed me to take chances in areas where I was afraid to jump. Sometimes when I can only see whats in front of me, she sees the bigger picture. I remember one specific moment a couple of years of ago when I released my first Ep, she wanted me to go on tour. Well with no label, my first time releasing a project on my own, and almost no budget, of course my answer was, ” I can’t” I remember us sitting down and having the conversation and really going over all the pros and cons of going on tour. While I was still hesitant, I knew I had someone in my corner that would stick beside me through it all. Not only would she stick by me through it ,but she was a huge part of putting together the tour dates and figuring out how we were going to get from state to state. We toured several states, and made great connections along the way, and it was all self funded. Honestly when you have the right people around and they believe in what you’re doing, they will push you to accomplish goals that you’d only dream of.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My name is JAYSTRONG. I am a singer, songwriters, and producer. I’ve released 2 Eps : Better ( 2016), See It Through ( 2020). My mission is simple. Make Jesus famous. I like to consider myself a non-traditional gospel artist with a unique perspective and approach to music. I’ve been fortune to tour and work with several other artist throughout my career thus far. I guess you can say that I’ve been an artist in the making since I was little kid. Music runs through my entire family. Almost everyone in my family plays several instruments. I started out playing drums in church when I was 3. Around 7 I started becoming interested in singing. I guess it was only natural because my mother plays and sings also. I really became passionate about singing around 12 years old. By the time I was 14, I knew I wanted singing to be something that I did professionally. I started becoming interested in vocal arranging and producing around 18. As mentioned before I’ve had several opportunities to work with different artist from the areas I’ve lived in. Honestly getting to where I am has always been faith based. I’ve had to trust God when I didn’t understand the “why” behind the next move. I truly believe God is setting me up for the best seasons of my life. When God calls you to something, it isn’t always easy or convenient. Sometimes God will have you walk away from a situation that looks great to move you in another direction. If it wasn’t for some of those moments, I wouldn’t have experienced some the victories that I have this far. Having someone in my life to help strengthen my faith in those moments is what helpd get me over the hurdles and continue to know that God has a plan even when I don’t understand and know all the details. One thing that I’ve learned and I continue to learn is that God knows what He’s doing. I just have to trust Him. If I had to let the world know something about JAYSTRONG, it would be Jesus wants to meet you right where you are. I believe my music will bring hope for people all over the world who may be lost, confused, depressed, or just desperately looking for something to fulfill them. My music is far from traditional, but my message will alway be consistent. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
One of my favorite spots in Dallas to hang out in, is the Deep Ellum area. It has amazing outdoor restaurants. It’s it just a vibe being around the shops and people. Dallas also has quite a few amazing museums downtown. We would definitely have to visit the Museum of Natural Science and a couple of others.
