We had the good fortune of connecting with JASMINE SHAW and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi JASMINE, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I pursued a creative career because I’ve always believed that God can be shared through more than just pulpits and pews. Creativity is a universal language — and I see art, storytelling, and design as powerful tools to expose people to God in ways that feel fresh, real, and relevant. As an educator, I saw how young people connected with visuals, music, and culture. So I started using those same elements — especially 90s R\&B and hip-hop vibes — to communicate faith-based messages in a way that resonates across generations. Whether it’s through coloring books, reels, or devotionals, my goal is to reflect God’s love in everyday life, in ways that feel both authentic and approachable. Creativity gives me the freedom to blend faith with culture — and that’s where I believe transformation happens.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My journey as an educator has been anything but easy, but every twist in the road has shaped me into who I am today — and I wouldn’t change a thing. What sets me apart is that my path wasn’t perfect, but it was purposeful. I actually ran from my calling to teach at first. I was afraid — afraid I wasn’t qualified, that I wouldn’t be enough. But God had other plans. Every time I said “no,” He kept opening doors.

My college experience taught me resilience, I was juggling college life as a student-athlete, pushing through long hours, practices, and coursework. That season stretched me, but it also taught me grit. I failed the special education certification test twice before finally passing. That was a humbling moment — not because I doubted my abilities, but because it reminded me that persistence and faith are powerful when they walk hand in hand.

One thing I can say with confidence is that God has shown me favor everywhere He’s sent me. From classrooms to leadership opportunities, He’s positioned me to lead, love, and learn in every space. I now have my master’s in Educational Leadership, and my mission is to bring faith, creativity, and fresh energy into everything I do — whether that’s in schools, books, or coloring pages that speak life over the next generation.

I want people to know that my brand is rooted in purpose. It’s about exposing God to the world in authentic, creative ways — especially for those who may not step into a church building but will pick up a coloring book, scroll a reel, or hear a word that resonates with their spirit.

This journey is bigger than a title or a position. It’s about being obedient, walking in calling even when it’s scary, and being a vessel that reflects God’s love in everyday ways.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We’d start the trip with a Sunday at One Community Church—because there’s nothing like starting the week with powerful worship and a Word that hits home. After service, we’d grab brunch at Sixty Vines in Uptown—because the vibes are immaculate and the seasonal menu never misses.

During the week, we’d mix movement, good food, and connection. I’d take them to one of my favorite Pilates studios, maybe Session Pilates or The Pilates Barre, so they can see why it’s my go-to for grounding and strength. Afterwards, we’d cool down with a coffee run to Soirée Coffee Bar (Trinity Groves) or La La Land Kind Café—great lattes, better energy. Rest & reset at Spa In The City. Lastly, hitting up Olphactory Candles & Perfumery as I love scent discovery classes & fragrances!

For dinner, I’d rotate between some of Dallas’s best:
Kitchen + Kocktails by Kevin Kelley (Downtown Dallas)
Kessaku for sushi with skyline views
And one night, we’re hitting The Henry—dinner on the rooftop

We’d stroll Klyde Warren Park, maybe even rent bikes or join a pop-up workout. Midweek, we’d head to Legacy West or Bishop Arts to shop, people-watch, and eat something we didn’t plan to (like pie from Emporium). To wind down the week, we’d grab dessert at Parlor’s Ice Creams, then sit on a rooftop. To me, the most exciting part of Dallas isn’t just the food or the skyline—it’s the mix of culture, faith, creativity, and hustle.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s no way I’d be where I am without the love and foundation poured into me by my parents. They raised me to believe in myself, to keep God first, and to serve others with humility. The support & encouragement from my family. I also want to shout out my Eastside Church of Christ family — they’ve always been a source of encouragement, accountability, and deep-rooted faith. And of course, all glory goes to God — He’s the source of my creativity, purpose, and the reason I do what I do. This journey isn’t about me, it’s about making Him known in ways that resonate with people right where they are.
