We had the good fortune of connecting with Janie Herron and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Janie, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
I am a small business owner with 3 kids. My work life balance today looks drastically different from how it did before I had kids. It’s much more difficult to know when to prioritize work, family, fitness, nutrition, friendships and so much more. I no longer have the luxury of going to the gym for an hour 5x/week then watching tons of Netflix at night.

I have to find balance between gym and home workouts. I have to find balance between helping my clients and taking care of my family. I have to balance responsibilities with my personal time.

My journey to finding Balance is part of the reason I got into coaching. I work with many women who were once athletes, or extremely involved in fitness. Now, after having kids they are either working demanding jobs or staying busy at home raising kids. They don’t have the time for fitness to look like it once did. Balance is different for each person, and love helping people find what balance looks like for them.

I’m a HypnoBirthing Childbirth Educator, Yoga Instructor, Pre/Postnatal Yoga Teacher, Personal Trainer, Precision Nutrition Coach, and a Certified Hypnotherapist. My business has changed and evolved since I started 6 years ago.

After my son was born 6 and a half years ago, I had the most peaceful, relaxing birth and I wanted to teach other women how to feel empowered in birth like I did. So I began teaching HypnoBirthing childbirth classes. This is what launched me into learning more about birth, pregnancy, postpartum and health.

After having my son, I struggled with postpartum depression. My confidence was low and I was 35lbs heavier. I knew that something had to change.

I started doing free yoga videos online. I instantly fell in love (it really was instant. After I tried the first or second video, I started doing research to find out how to become a yoga teacher!) I started practicing yoga consistently and I began to lose weight.

I started to love my body again, for the first time in years.

After my daughter was born, I began weightlifting. I was scared at first, but I loved lifting weights. Eventually excitement and confidence replaced nervousness.

I believe that physical activity can be fun. Healthy foods can be delicious. ‘Diets’ don’t have to be miserably restrictive. Well-fed, healthy, nourished, strong bodies help us live our lives more easily.

To have knowledge is to feel empowered. So I have spent the last 6 years studying as much continuing education material as possible. I’ve done this for myself, but also for my clients.

I am an Online Holistic Health Coach. I take the guesswork out of fitness. I help my clients get unstuck and find balance.

Nothing makes me happier than teaching people how to change their own lives. My mission is to equip others. I believe each person is capable, strong and worthy.

I’m a Health Coach because of my experience. I want to share the knowledge and skills I’ve gained over the years.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had to plan a day trip in the city, I would start with Seven Mile Cafe in North Fort Worth for breakfast. After that I would move to Downtown Fort Worth. Walking around downtown and perhaps getting some ice cream at Melt would hit the spot. Dinner at GRACE Fort Worth is my favorite if I’m going to splurge. Reata and Texas de Brazil are also great choices.

If I wanted to do a night time activity, AMC Balance 9 and Bass Hall are always a treat to visit.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be where I am without my husband. I realize that’s like the stereotypical answer for many people, but it’s true. I have a strong personality, and I’m always coming up with wild ways to expand my business. My husband Jon supports and encourages me every step of the way.
