We had the good fortune of connecting with Janay Cash and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Janay, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
We started Diamonds Do Brunch because there was a deficit in the community concerning sisterhood. We wanted to bridge the gap between the generations of seasoned ladies and young ladies by helping them heal from their past and present situations while also showing them they are not in this alone. We were tired of seeing, hearing and talking about the problem it was time to become the change we want to see. Our thoughts were if we can be vulnerable enough to change someone else’s story then that is what we will do.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I believe what sets us apart from other organizations is the true compassion to see generational curses broken off of blood lines. I am most excited about seeing the ladies walk out their purposes in life. A lot of hard work, sleepless nights, self evaluations and doing the work on my own self in order to help walk someone else through. No lol! None of this was or is easy it takes a lot of prayer and support from those who truly love and care for you to get you through the journey. I learned that strangers will support you before your family does and in-spite of the lack of “family” support God always has someone who will have your back to help propel you forward. I want them to know I am far from perfect but I am striving to be who God has purposed for me to be and if He can use my story to get the glory He deserves He can use yours too.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would take them to the water wall near the galleria mall there is such a peace that is surrounding it. We would eat at Frenchy’s chicken and Brennan’s Steakhouse on the Bayou and end it at Thirsty Thursday’s at Kapri Ultra lounge.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God who has guided me on this journey, my parents who have taught me I can be whom ever I want to be and my son for being my absolute motivation to cement a legacy.
