We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Lynn Moreland and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jamie Lynn, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I started learning photography at first just to document my own experience of motherhood, but pretty early into the process, I knew that I really wanted to capture these same kinds of memories for other moms as well. As parents, there are so many perfect moments we’re sure we’ll never forget…but then the weeks and months and years fly by and we wonder where the time has gone! I started my business as a way to help families document what makes them special so they have tangible memories for years to come. When life is hectic, days go by in a blur and those sweet moments of connection with family can feel so fleeting. That’s why photography is so important to me—as a creative person and, even more so, as a mom.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I specialize in portraiture that celebrates newborns, families, and motherhood. I love to capture moments of authentic beauty and connection that can remind you of exactly how you felt at a given time. I’m excited to begin offering custom framing and heirloom albums this year! When memories are made tangible as cherished works of art and incorporated into the environments in which we live, we can really ground ourselves in the true meaning of home. I want people to realize that photography is about more than flipping through digital images on your smart phone – it’s about documenting our seasons of growth, change, and love, and being able to reflect on the special moments and milestones we’ve shared.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We are lucky to have amazing theater and arts venues in DFW – Casa Manana, Bass Hall, Winspear Opera House, the Music Hall At Fair Park. No trip to DFW would be complete without seeing a show!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My twin girls are the reason I do what I do. The need to document all the things that make them special and how much our family loves each other is the driving force behind my photography business. They are beautiful inside and out, and I’m so lucky to be their mom. We also have such a wonderful community of local photographers in DFW, and I’m so grateful to have a group of women that can support each other and share in each other’s struggles and successes.
