We had the good fortune of connecting with James Barber and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi James, how do you define success?
Being able to take care of my family, myself and still chase the dreams that will keep me moving forward.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m artist and the music I make gives you that new T-Pain feeling. To be where I am today with drug addict parents and having 3 kids to 3 different women very early in my life would derail a young man, but it made me stronger. I put all that pain and grind into my music. Has never been easy even now to this day but to see the results we’re getting today versus 3 years ago I’m very happy to have built a team that cares about the success of us all not just me. Patience has been the key while understanding my journey is mines and no one else can walk it which makes us all unique in our own right. I want to be the music you listen to on your day to day, the music you clean your house to on Saturday morning, the music that motivates you to grind harder and more importantly that it’s ok to fall short just don’t stay there
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First stop for me when I get to the city is Pappadeaux’s!!! Some of the best seafood I’ve ever had and really after that it just depends on where my family takes me. I’m the lets go person whenever they bring up somewhere to go.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
DJ KCity who is also my manager. He’s been the consent force pushing me forward throughout my life. From the first time I met him when I was 16 to now, he’s been the same guy, someone who doesn’t take no for an answer, always finds a solution and has never let me quit anything in my life.
