Meet Jalicia Wingfield | Boutique and Beauty Bar Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jalicia Wingfield and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jalicia, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
To be honest as possible I use to steal clothes and sale them. I was what they call a booster what you would pay in store coming to me ,you would pay half instead of full price. I was risking my life and finally said “ Here I am stealing someone’s else clothes and selling them when I can order and sell my own.” Less of a risk and I am able to be here with my kids.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What set me a side from other boutique owner is when you shop at Hustlers Beauty Bar you are free to enjoy the experience, people and vibes We offer our clients /customer refreshments such as wine, mimosas etc .

I got to where I am because I wanted my kids to see that it can be done. Never not believe in you. I face challenges everyday single mom of 6, I got to school and owner a business. Everyday it’s hard I pray that it gets better and it will I feel.

I learned that I was not prepared at all to start a business. Now that I have learned and now know the proper steps these are things I want to teach other women and help with.

I want the world to know it’s okay to support a black owned business. Appreciate us , love us and grow with us. Come shop with me and we have a salon as well located inside the boutique. We are planning on expanding with the right team is formed to create a 1 stop shop for the ladies.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Lol this is going to sound crazy but I’m a homebody girls night out or in I should say drunk bowling is my favorite the Bowlounge on is nice. Shot cellular on 7th street, Top Golf , Eddie V’s is my favorite The Keg Steakhouse that’s all I got.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My mama has always been my biggest supporter since day one. She was so proud when I made the decision to open up the shop. My family and friend would come help me Jam, Ashle, Watts,Sonora,Toe, Boy Sha Laura. They stepped and encouraged me so much during the proces I wanted to quit and give up they held it down even my daughter dad Rod put in work took out time to fix , repair, paint whatever I needed he took the time to make sure it was done. For them I will always be grateful.
