We had the good fortune of connecting with Jae Hunter and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jae, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
From a young age, I have always had a strong entrepreneurial drive, with a clear vision of owning and operating my own beauty business. Over the past few years as the owner of a successful private hair and makeup studio, I have expanded my focus to create a collaborative and educational space for other beauty professionals. This environment fosters growth and innovation, not only for my industry peers but also for my own children, who have also decided to pursue careers in the medical aesthetics and beauty industry.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am the co-owner and founder of Jade Beauty Collective, the name speaks for itself. We are a woman owned collective of beauty & aesthetic professionals. The name Jade came from the inspiration of my own daughter who is my injector and esthetician. I believe what sets us apart is that we have created a space where traditional beauty and medical aesthetics combine in a very home like environment. Throughout my career, I recognized that my clients always preferred when I would come to them in their own homes or at times they would want to come into my own home. As I grew in business I knew I couldn’t continue to service clients into my own home studio, so I opened up and designed two locations that are inspired by a home-like environment. I’m extremely proud of how far we have come as a brand. I started as a solo free-lance makeup artist and then I worked my way up to leasing a suite as a full service hair stylist/makeup artist/esthetician. After that endeavor I added medical aesthetics to my business and opened up our first beauty and wellness clinic. We are currently in the process of opening up our second location. It definitely has not been an easy road. When you are first starting out in this business the numbers can add up quickly however, I owe all my success to my creator. I am a faith based woman, and I firmly believe that I have been blessed to live in my purpose and that God continues to give me just enough clients to continue to sustain and continue to grow this business.
At Jade Beauty Collective, you will always be greeted with a warm smile, we will treat you like family and we will make you look and feel fabulous in the process.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many places to name. I’m a foodie and I love a great craft cocktail, so I would definitely have a week planned out some great restaurants and bars. I would more than likely take them to Dallas, Arlington, Southlake, Grapevine and Fort Worth. Some of my favorite places to eat are STK or Mexican Sugar in Dallas, you can’t not go to Jamaican Gates in Arlington they have by far the best Jamaican cuisine, some great music and the best rum punch around. I live close to Southlake so Moxies, Glorias or Perry’s are some local faves. You can never go wrong with taking someone to Downtown Grapevine, spending a day wine tasting and walking around the local shops is always a great time especially during the holiday months as they are fast approaching and lastly the Stockyards is a DFW must see.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My daughters, Jaeden & Kristyanna Goodloe. They are my driving force and my muses.
