We had the good fortune of connecting with Jaana Simula and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jaana, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Could I just say that starting a business was my destiny? I am a third-generation entrepreneur and have always felt like starting and running a business is in my blood. My head has always been filled with business ideas, sometimes so many that I felt I’m eating business ideas for breakfast! I still got three or four new business ideas in my back pocket for my old days, so you can tell I truly love being an entrepreneur and will likely continue the journey till the day I die. I started Mostly Design around what I do best: efficiency and organization. I do to your business what Marie Kondo does to your closet: 1. Remove the things that don’t bring joy = don’t add business value 2. Organize remaining things so that everything is easily found = redesign the processes to be efficient 3. Enjoy the harmony in your surroundings = allow you to enjoy life when you don’t have to run your business like flying by the seat of your pants It makes me so happy to see the positive impact my method has on my clients’ businesses and personal lives! All because of a little Business Konmari 🙂
What should our readers know about your business?
Mostly Design started as a WordPress website builder, web hosting service, and digital marketing company, but the demand has been way beyond that. A website or social media management can take you only so far. You can actually get yourself into a lot of trouble and find yourself buried in extra work if you don’t plan the way you actually do your work. There are many fantastic, free tools for small businesses out there, but few have the time to invest and investigate them. That’s why I’m here. The full package. Not just a website. Not just digital marketing. I’m here for the big picture – to help you run your business efficiently. I’m here to do to your business what Marie Kondo does to your closet: help you organize, structure, minimize, and simplify your IT, technology, and marketing daily tasks. So that you can concentrate on the essential part of your business. So that you can leave the mundane, repetitive tasks to automation. Because your business deserves your time. Because your business deserves to be successful.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I love having friends & family spend the weekend or longer here with me! Typically I take my guests to visit some cool old Texas towns in DFW Metroplex area such as Grapevine, and antique shopping in downtown Carrollton, my hometown. Carrollton also has the best biking trails in the entire Metroplex, they span miles and miles in beautiful surroundings, and often no cars on the way. Klyde Warren Park and the museums close by are another favorite of mine. It’s so nice to experience the atmosphere and just hang out in the park, and of course, try some delicious dishes from the food trucks! Speaking of food, Trinity Groves is my favorite. It’s the ambiance of the whole area that works as a fantastic backdrop for the wonderful food. Love it and am proud to showcase it to all my visitors! I also like to do trips to the surrounding areas. Great weekend trip locations are Hot Springs in Arkansas and Turner Falls in Oklahoma. Both so beautiful locations, plenty of nature!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
You’re so right that nobody can do this alone. There are so many people, authors, and organizations that have helped me along the way. There is one person that I would love to highlight in particular, my success coach Dagmar Fleming https://www.dagmarfleming.com. Dagmar has helped me unlock some of the deep-rooted beliefs that have kept me from reaching my full potential. Building a successful business requires a success mindset and Dagmar is specialized in that.
