Meet Isaiah Smith | Podcast Host of “The Zaya Show”

We had the good fortune of connecting with Isaiah Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Isaiah, looking back, what do you think was the most difficult decision you’ve had to make?
The most difficult decision I made was to comeback to the podcast I once ended. I battled through my fears of not being able to deliver the content I once delivered prior. Being a successful and charting podcaster it’s pressure to be perfect. I know my supporters will support me regardless, but I am creating this comeback season for me!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Becoming a podcaster was not the plan, I always wanted to be a theatrical actor. As I grew success in my podcast I got to combine my love for acting and podcasting into “The Zaya Show”. Each season have a different vibe and tone based on conversations I have with my guest. This podcast is representation for my queer black community, and for everyone who felt not heard. I am your voice and I will advocate for the change we need in this world. When you listen to “The Zaya Show” new upcoming season it’s going to a whole new experience for podcast listeners. This is going to change the game of how podcasters release episodes.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spots are honestly the theatre and coffeehouses! Some of my personal favorites are Luma Coffee, Courtyard Cafe, and PJ’s of New Orleans. I love going to a coffeehouse to gain inspiration and calmness for the events that are happening in my life. The theatre is my home away from home some of my favorites are Swamplight Theatre, Columbia Theatre, and Bruin Theatre Alliance. I definitely recommend following them on social media for updates on upcoming shows that will be open to the public! Going to theatre shows is what helps me be inspired and creative with creating content for season 8 of the podcast.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout will go to my good friend and photographer, Courtney Floyd! She truly deserves all the praise when people are stunned by my photos for my social media. She has been with me from season 5 to now for season 8! Creating photography with her has always been easy, and it’s important to have someone who is passionate and willing to get that amazing shot! She also runs her own photography business, “CourtMPhotos”. You can find her on Instagram and feel free to hit her up! She is one of the kindest and hardest working people I know!
