We had the good fortune of connecting with Holly Frush and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Holly, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I started H Interiors in 2016 after my father passed away. I thought life is too short not to be living and working in a creative environment, of my choice, in my element. I always knew I would own my own business at some point in my life. I thought it would be a brick-and-mortar store. I watched that idea morph over the years in many ways. I have always had an entrepreneurial mind and have enjoyed many side hustle businesses. However, I had a long career in the multifamily apartment industry. I learned all aspects of the apartment business and had some amazing opportunities and experiences. I gained so much knowledge and fell in love with the multifamily apartment sector. My thought was, how do I stay in this residential apartment arena yet use my creative talents. My skill set was noticed, and I started upgrading apartment models. I quickly saw a growing need in the field for updating, renovating, and remodeling existing apartment communities.   Due to the increased new developments in Dallas, H Interiors was formed and has been full throttle ever since!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
H Interiors offers interior design services for multi-family apartment spaces. I specialize in on-trend model apartments, as well as innovative clubrooms, leasing areas, common areas and fun amenity spaces. My clients are property management companies and property asset owners of apartment communities. Renovation, remodeling, updating, and upgrading is my niche. I am hands-on every step of the way, working with my clients who care deeply about the communities they own and/or manage where their residents live, work and play. I partner with my clients from start to finish to build a relationship that supports their future business growth and success for their communities. I pride myself on my attention to detail and am always striving to create that “wow” factor on every job. I try not to repeat the use of any design or décor item more than once, diversifying each project and making it truly custom and unique. Just like motherhood is not for sissies, starting a company is not for the faint of heart. I truly wear all the hats and then some. The quote is true: ‘Entrepreneurs are the only people who will work 80 hours a week to avoid working 40 hours a week’. I am bootstrapped, all in and baptized by fire. I have honed and polished my problem-solving skills and they are top-notch. There can be bumps in the road, late deliveries, damaged goods, construction delays, but it is how you handle the bumps that matters. It is important to have a great support team as well. I have a couple of key players that I could not do the job without. I currently have projects in Dallas, Fort Worth, Austin, Houston, and San Antonio.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Dallas is filled with so many great places and things to do. If my best friend came to visit me for a week, our first stop would be Mi Cocina in Highland Park Village for a Mambo Taxi. While there we would visit Trina Turk, my favorite boutique, and then play with makeup at Blue Mercury. The next day includes a stroll through the Dallas Arboretum followed by a trip to Restoration Hardware on Knox Street, including dining at their rooftop restaurant with plenty of selfies on the outdoor patio. We would not miss a concert at the Granada or the House of Blues. A bike ride around White Rock Lake and down to the Katy Trail Icehouse is next on our list of activities. Another adventure would take us to The Nasher Sculpture Center and a kick around at Klyde Warren Park, getting a snack from a food truck. We would schedule a stop by The Village Apartments new development and take in some delicious Mediterranean fare at Anise before going down to the secret speakeasy at La Mina. We would finish our Dallas tour at Top Golf playing a round of fun driving range games and then dinner at Town Hearth in the Design District.   Relaxing at the end of our evening with a visit to the Balcony Club for some live jazz music.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my amazing husband who stands quietly on the sidelines, watches intently, calms my crazy and gives words of wisdom when needed. He has been my rock and has always supported my dreams and aspirations. My sister, for all her continued, daily support, love and encouraging words. And to my Mom, she was always crafting, always creatively thinking outside of the box, always learning a new hobby and had a killer interior design sense. She was making and designing things that were cool way before they were. I credit her for gifting me that creative flow.
