We had the good fortune of connecting with Hannah Mosing and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Hannah, how do you think about risk?
When I think about risk, I consider the following – whatever you believe in, there is one common fact that is true for all human beings – we only live ONE life. So, by being afraid of taking risks, you’re stopping yourself from living your full potential of the one life we all are blessed to get. That’s why I took the risk of releasing a poetry book – if I don’t take the risk now, I may never take the risk, and I don’t want to live my life in regret of not having taken risks. Risks also factor into my life and career – I graduated during the pandemic, so getting a job where I love where I work AND I can allocate time for my passions is extremely important. By taking the risks that I have to get to where I am today, I am a much stronger, happier person for it.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a poet and author who is passionate about helping others through the world of poetry and art. The journey to get here was not easy, it came with several bumps in the road, but my support system and the therapeutic art of writing has helped me overcome the challenges along the way and it’s made the journey worth it. I’ve learned that nothing in life is easy, the challenges and trials of life can make for some (decently good) poetry, and that you can reinvent yourself or create your brand at any point in life and that you can always create a good path for yourself creatively and professionally.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If I had one of my best friends visiting the area, I’d definitely take them to the Dallas Aquarium and the Dallas Zoo. For food, I’d get pizza from Delucca or Poco Fiasco, or sunset fajita tacos from Mi Cocina. I’d also make a point to take them to some CycleBar classes and Black Swan Yoga classes and finish the trip with drinks at Stoneleigh P or Blackfriar Pub.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are several people in my community that made my journey as an author possible, but I’d like to especially recognize my Fragile Heart Book publishing team – comprised of Dragonfly De La Luz who edited my poems and helped connect me to my graphic designer and publisher, Kristina Conatser who designed my book cover and is an overall graphic design genius, and James Woosley who is my publisher through Free Agent Press and has helped with the formatting of my book from start to finish. I’d also like to recognize Ameera Zaman, who is a dear friend of mine and organized my poetry in order for the reader, and Caroline McPhail, another dear friend who interviewed me and wrote my “About the Author” bio and has been overall very supportive. I’d also like to recognize Brooke Forbus with Silva Stills Photography, she is the superwoman behind the camera and took the most beautiful author photos EVER. Next, I need to recognize my best friend and life partner, Sergio Arenas, for not only helping with my website and advertisement for the book, but who has helped me through the physical and emotional ups and downs of life. I’d also like to continually shoutout and recognize my close friends and family members – you know who you are! Finally, I want to recognize everyone who has pre-ordered or purchased a copy of my book or even just recommended my book to a loved one – your support means the world and thank you for helping write my story.
