We had the good fortune of connecting with Had Enough N/A and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Had Enough, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
Work life balance for me has always been a challenge. However, I’ve managed to improve it lately. I just schedule myself like a 9-5 if it’s writing/recording, business calls, setting up marketing campaigns, and when “clock out” time arrives, I’m put all my focus on my life, not work.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I make Alternative Hip Hop, sometimes it’s smooth & catchy, sometimes dark & brash. I have a catalogue on Spotify, Apple and even on CD format of records I’ve released for the past 11 years.
Merchandise & live events/tours have been a major component in my success. I also own/run a home recording studio business, a weekly open mic & do live sound production gigs.
What sets me apart is my mindset isn’t to “make it big some day”, it’s to build everything in my music career from the ground up, invest, build relationships, plant seeds and work to grow all of it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Our music scene, to me is the most interesting & exciting. And you can find live shows in various areas on our city, midtown, north & downtown.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve always had a good support system around me. From friends, colleagues, family, girlfriend (who is also my business partner & DJ)
I actually listen to more business entrepreneurs more than musicians in building my music business. It’s easy to get misguided when you’re a creative, so learn how to build a company from other industries has been a blessing.
