We had the good fortune of connecting with Gregory Mohr and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gregory, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
While getting my masters degree in business I read Robert Kiyosaki’s book “Rich Dad/Poor Dad”. I knew then that there was something better than the corporate world for me. I liked my job but did not like being tied down in an office for 10 hours a day. I knew I did not have the next best greatest idea for a business. I had worked for a master franchisor for Taco Bell in the past and liked how the franchise system worked. I did purchase rental homes, a dry cleaners and storage units with a fellow engineer but I always looked back on time at Taco Bell with fondness. I decided that since I did not have a great idea for a business that going with a franchise would be best for me. I wanted someone who could help me succeed in starting my own business.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Going from an office environment to working from home was a bit of a challenge. Lot’s of distraction at home. I really had to put a schedule for myself on the calendar. It did take a few weeks but once I got it down it was easy. Definitely a lot more fun than driving to the office every day and spending 10 hours there! After running a franchise for a while I went into franchise consulting where I help other people get into franchises or turn their business into a franchise. I read as many books as I could get my hands on about franchising and sales. My goal was to determine how I could show people how to reach their goals as I have reached mine through franchises. Learning as much as you can about your industry is also a key to success.
I also joined various franchise and networking groups. This is also essential to success. Get to know others and how you can help them. The more people you help, the more others help you.
I have learned that interacting with others in your industry and people in your area are the key to learning about your industry and what people are looking for in life and how you can help them.
Most proud would be helping people achieve their dreams, whether that is financial independence, spending more time with family or just doing the things they enjoy most.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well. I don’t get out much so that is a difficult question for me. We live on 160 acres with a lake and four ponds and mostly forest. Fortunately my best friend likes fishing and hunting as well as exploring nature so we would spend the week at our compound doing just that.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Robert Kiyosaki Rich Dad/Poor Dad. Dennis Schooley, Schooley Mitchel franchise. His was the franchise I decided to invest and was a great mentor along with his team. He really showed me what franchising was all about.
Zig Ziglar – You can have everything in life you want, if you will just help other people get what they want. Read his books, great motto and I live by it.
