Meet Gareth Neckles | Photographer / Entrepreneur.

We had the good fortune of connecting with Gareth Neckles and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Gareth, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The thought process behind my business wasn’t too hard at all. While growing up, I was always thrilled by anything technological or sleek looking. In 2017 I. realized there was a large contingent of international students graduating from the Midwestern State University but there wasn’t many options for a photographer at the time.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Starting my business back in 2017 wasn’t easy at all just because I knew absolutely nothing about professional photography and it’s practices. I spent countless hours surfing the internet and Youtube to find tutorials and different problem solving techniques to better my skill. I would rush home after work to head by the near by lake to watch Youtube videos and practice what was being thought. Eventually I felt confident enough to advertise to the international students that were around the area for their graduation ceremony.
I stared of charging $65 and would advertise my packages offering unlimited images. Today that is not so much a good idea but back then it was the smartest thing I could’ve came up with because I felt like I needed to get my name out there and eventually increase my prices and packages once I became known.
The first couple years I primarily shot graduations and a few lifestyle sessions. I then got the gist of things and branched of to doing different types of photography.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
One of there most interesting things about Wichita Falls is the man made waterfall and its nature trails. The environment is clean and great for exercising, an evening stroll or just to relax.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I don’t have one particular person to shout out but I do want to say thanks to all the photographers and previous clients that trusted and helped me along the way. Of course I will specifically like to thank God The Almighty for the strength to continue to endure.
