We had the good fortune of connecting with Gabriela “Gabby” Puche and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Gabriela “Gabby”, what do you think makes you most happy? Why?
Contributing my share to the world. Contribution is the core desire of every human being. Happiness and fulfillment are deep, emotional life purposes. Americans, on average, eat three times daily. After obtaining my bachelor of science and my master of science and my dietitian credential, I found purpose in speaking to my audience on how they could improve their lives through FOOD.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is my level of vulnerability. I aim to live my life with absolute authenticity. Life is too short to not let the world see who you are. What I am most excited about is the amount of people I am impacting now and where I will be a year from now. As soon as I passed my examination to become a dietitian, I knew I needed to be proactive on my mission to impact the world. Thus, I began to educate myself on money. Additionally, I took a contract position with an RD out of San Antonio that practices Integrative and Functional Nutrition. I have learned so much in 2021 alone!

It has not been easy being a first-generation Latina. However, what sets me apart is my positivity. What I want the world to know is that I hear them and I am there for them. Health is nuanced and our healthcare system deals with more “sick care” rather than “healthcare”. I am here to change that.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The Dallas Fort-Worth area has been my home in my short 26 years of life. What I love about Dallas is its diverse population. Firstly, I would take them to Texas Woman’s University. The campus is absolutely breath taking. As a creative and an intellectual, Denton has a close place in my heart. In Dallas, you can always find free fitness classes at Klyde Warren Park and you can always get lost at the glorious Dallas Farmer’s Market.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Firstly, I would like to thank my mentors from the Latinos and Hispanics in Dietetics and Nutrition. They helped me believe in myself and to exude pride in who I am, which is a powerful and strong Latina. Secondly, I would like to thank my business mentor Adam Lax, RD. I joined a mastermind of other dietitians with dreams of leaving their mark in the world through entrepreneurship. Every Wednesday, I join the “Six Figure Nutripreneur” mastermind call and discuss our wins and thoughts. I found this group through the Nutrition Entrepreneurs Dietetic Practice Group from the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics.
