We had the good fortune of connecting with Emily Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emily, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Everything changes when you have kids. Pre-motherhood and early on as a mom, I rarely thought about work life balance. The older the kids get, the harder it is to be away because you don’t want to miss any big moments.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I started my television career 22 years ago, I never would have imagined this is where I would end up. My dream job was to be an anchor for ESPN’s Sports Center…now I can’t think of anything more boring! No offense to Sports Center, I just can’t imagine spending every day behind a desk reading from a teleprompter. Baseball wasn’t even my game, but when I started covering the Rangers in 2005, I slowly and organically fell in love with the sport and the organization. Now I can’t even fathom doing anything else for anyone else.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Jog along the Trinity followed by breakfast and mimosas at Press Cafe. Lunch at Joe T Garcia’s. Afternoon at The Modern. Dinner at Ellerbe. Nightcap at The Usual. Gotta mix in some Heim BBQ and a trip to the Fort Worth Zoo.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
They say it takes a village to raise a child, but in our family, it takes an army. There are so many people who play a part in caring for and loving our kids. Extended family, friends, our nanny–we couldn’t make my crazy schedule work without each and every one of them.
