We had the good fortune of connecting with Elise Culpepper and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elise, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Learning that I am not a victim to my circumstances has been a big game changer for my mental health and overall well being. This mindset has allowed me to develop certain habits, such as allowing myself to be teachable and willing to truly listen to the voices of the ones who pour into my life for the better.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am currently in the world of hospitality. Having the opportunity to connect with and learn about individuals from all over is something I find fascinating and take great joy in.
Finding the passion behind the work was a challenge at first. Being an individual who experiences A.D.D. I have not only have had to embrace my diagnosis but learn how to make it work for my benefit in order to serve others well.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a quiet, homebody for sure! So, I am prone to lean more towards a quiet bookstore or coffeeshop that most people wouldn’t consider a “go to spot”. My current favorite is Wild Detectives Coffee Shop located in the Bishop Arts District here in Dallas.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have been fortunate enough to be surrounded by a wonderful group of friends who have encouraged and loved me through some of the toughest of seasons. I can’t help but think of the word ‘gratitude’ when I think of this chapter of my life and these astounding individuals who have taught me how to live, not only well but to the fullest.
This shout out is for them
