We had the good fortune of connecting with Elena Ortega and Anna Goot and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Elena Ortega and Anna Goot, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Well, we both wanted the freedom to choose our schedule and make our work-life balance better. We also wanted a space for our clients to feel more relaxed and welcomed unlike our previous place of employment.

What should our readers know about your business?
We started this business this past November. We haven’t been open for very long, but it was one of the best decisions we’ve made thus far. What started out as just a hypothetical conversation turned into our brand and business, Wicked Shears Hair Company. It’s been tough transitioning our clients from our previous place of employment to our new home inside the building of Salon and Spa Galleria-Bedford. We’re 2 stylists that came together and opened a salon suite to call home. We still have some challenges to face like getting our name our there for potential clients, but we’re on every platform that we can think of(social media, google, etc.) so now it’s just a matter of time before more people book with us. Patience and communication is key in the business.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
We tell everyone visiting that they should go to Bucees, the Fort Worth Zoo, Traders Village, and the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. For food we usually recommend Dos Molinas, Twisted Root, Risky’s Barbeque, and El Paseo’s. We’re from Fort Worth and both have been all over the metroplex, but honestly there’s so much to do and see it gets to be overwhelming. I’m sure whatever you choose or research will be a good time.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We’d like to thank our loved ones and support system of family and friends for giving us the reassurance of believing in us. However, most importantly we’d love to thank our clients because without them we have no business and we wouldn’t have the drive to do better by them. We love all of the people around us, and greatly appreciate the ones who helped us get to the spot where we are today.
