We had the good fortune of connecting with E Smith and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi E, what role has risk played in your life or career?
I think of risks as transportation, you know, like a car. Risk taking has played a huge role in my career because it’s literally how i’ve gotten from one point to the next. Even if things didn’t work out I had to turn my car a different direction/take a different risk. It requires you to face your fear of “not knowing” or uncertainty. The more you bet, the bigger the win, also the bigger the loss. So will you take the risk?
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am E.Smith, CEO of my brand Mellowmuziq. My brand pretty much encompasses my personality. I am a very laid back person with an introverted personality. I still deal with the same things in life as anyone I just do it in a “mellow” way lol. Ive been creating music for a long time my tone and arrangements set me apart from others, I feel like when you hear an E Smith track you know its an E. Smith track. Im most proud of my perseverance, because unfortunately this business is cut throat. I applaud anyone, any creative who is staying the course because this is not easy at all.It comes with so much, and as you grow things constantly change. Ive learned that you must protect yourself and cover yourself at all times. Don’t let anyone take advantage of you and make sure you have people around you that you can trust. I want the world to know I stand for the underdogs. We may not get the recognition we deserve, we may not be the loudest ones in the room, but what we have inside of us shines brighter than the sun..
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I thank the Most High for the gift I was given. Then I have to give a huge shoutout to myself. For giving myself a chance to do what I love and hanging in there when there are things that could hold me back I keep myself going. Big shoutout to my partner Debb, My producer EightiEightOnKeys, My engineer, Chris Peoples, My Manager Huck, We do all the inside work. Cant forget Dean Manuscript and Tri-Coastal Radio where they are HUGE supporters of my music and def get my music heard. Last but definitely not least my new artist XREMX who is a great addition to my team. I also want to shoutout each and every supporter of my music in any way I love you all more than you know!
