We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Tiffany Tajiri and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Tiffany, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Success and confidence are not built by being comfortable. Confidence only comes when you hold yourself accountable to doing things outside of your comfort zone. It’s about discipline and keeping the promises you make to yourself by not backing out at showtime. Avoidance and fear are the heroes of stagnation. Have your childhood dreams of grandeur dwindled down into a goal that significantly pales in comparison—just so that it fits within the boundaries of your comfort zone? You can only live as big as your ability to get uncomfortable which means taking risks. Once the thing that was uncomfortable becomes comfortable, it’s time to, once again, extend the boundaries of your comfort zone. What’s out of your comfort zone now, is your growing edge. Keep pushing the limits until your childhood dreams of grandeur become your reality. The most uncomfortable thing is knowing you have a higher calling and not pursuing it. The portal to your next level is through the parts of yourself that you avoid.

The greatest fear in the world is the opinion of others, and the moment that you become unafraid of the crowd, is the moment you are free to create with no limits.

This past year, I have worked to become my most authentic self—bringing my passions to life through content creation. Sharing my unique artistry has been a vulnerable and risky experience, but if it inspires one person to create their heart’s highest calling, it’s all worth it.

Life is not about changing yourself to fit-in. It’s about embracing who you are and belonging amongst those who value your authenticity.

You are both the masterpiece and the work in progress.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The first part of my life was dedicated to accomplishing the “black and white.” Essentially, doing what needs to be done to become a respected professional. I became a doctor, joined the military to serve our country, published books, and then continued on to hold leadership positions in government service. This next part of my life, is the colorful and creative part of the journey. This is where Freedom Rhythm E-motion Focused Movement and The Colorful Psychologist were created. This past year, I created The Colorful Psychologist—a quirky, whimsical, & animated doctor who sheds light on improving our quality of life through the spirit, mind, and body connection. The Colorful Psychologist reflects my inner child, and her message is for the inner child within all of us. Of course, she is a fan favorite of the children having produced her first kid’s song, entitled “I Believe. I Behave. I Become!” (and it can be found on itunes and spotify). The Colorful Psychologist is quickly gaining traction—having been featured in multiple magazine articles for her unique message and persona. The Colorful Psychologist goes hand in hand, as a Freedom Rhythm ambassador. As a former professional ballet dancer, I appreciate the importance of rhythm and creative movement to aid in psychological healing. This is why I created Freedom Rhythm Emotion Focused Movement—a protocol informed by the study of neuroscience. It capitalizes on the power of the mind through visualization and the body through movement, as it works to free us from the toxic emotions that have stolen our peace. Freedom Rhythm uses a variety of silks to project our emotions in a beautiful and vibrant way, as we learn how to create a narrative that sets us free. Together, we are a work of art—each silk is like a brush stroke contributing to the masterpiece.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I live in El Paso, TX which borders Mexico. This is my hometown, and it is bursting with vibrant cultural experiences. A perfect night out would be eating some delicious Mexican food at the famous Carlos and Mickey’s followed by watching a performance of Viva El Paso! This production walks us through the colorful history of the city through song and dance of many genres. The show takes place in an amphitheater nestled in the Franklin Mountains. After that, I would come home sit on my balcony and take in the beautiful desert night with sparkling city lights in the distance.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Dr. Diana Lawrence of Dr. World Productions has created a unique, one-of-a-kind pageant system that encourages its sisterhood to discover their most authentic voice. Unlike many pageant systems, Dr. World Productions has created a community of women who stive to lift one another up in their journey of becoming their “ideal self”—not a “cookie cutter” image of what a pageant queen is “supposed to be.” This freedom has given me the courage to create my life legacy while having the support of a sisterhood comprised of bright, brilliant, and motivated women who aim to improve the collective conscious of the world in their unique way. This organization has a moto of, “…because smart is beautiful” and achieves its mission through the three pillars of community service, education, and mentorship. Much of my bravery to become my most authentic self has come from this phenomenal group of queens and our director, Dr. Diana Lawrence.
