We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Erica Rodriguez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Erica, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind my success is moving with genuine intention. The world of professional sports is filled with people that are looking to self serve. When I encounter an athlete I’m looking to see how I can help them be successful and reach their goals. I truly care about the athletes I work with. I’m more than just their physical therapist. I want them to feel that they can depend on me to show up for them and know I’m there even if they never touch a ball again.
I think when you set your own agenda aside and focus on serving it will never steer you wrong. My purpose is to help athletes which is what I think about every time I start a session. The relationship goes far beyond performance. I care about the people I work with and put unseen hours into their process to help them succeed.

What should our readers know about your business?
My practice is called 4th Quarter Recovery. It is a mobile service that caters to elite athletes for injury management, return to sport rehab, recovery, and injury prevention. I’m a doctor of physical therapy and strength and conditioning specialist that works with elite athletes from high school to professional level.
The key to building my brand has been to continue to learn and to be patient. I think it is easy to feel that things are moving too slow especially with social media. It is important to run your own race and continue to progress your knowledge and expand your network. Every year my network expands which has continued to elevate my business.
The lessons I’ve learned with along the way are to be genuine with your intentions and never stop learning. I change the way I treat often because I learn new things every week. I think it is important to continue to progress to give my athletes the best opportunity to stay in the game. Building genuine relationships has been an important part of my business as well. When you do right by people they will remember. Connecting with people is one of my favorite parts of the business.
Lastly, my brand is big on betting on yourself. So if you have been contemplating going for an opportunity I encourage you to pursue it. I did not realize what I was missing out on until I started my business. Now I can truly say that I love what I do every day when I wake up.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If a friend was coming to Fort Worth I would like to take the to the Stockyards to get the full Cowtown experience. My favorite places for food would be Joe T’s, Press Cafe, or Reata. For drinks I would take them to a local brewery like Martin House, Wild Acre, Rahr, or Panther Island. I love trying out different coffee shops as well around town so would definitely have to add a stop for that. For entertainment, I would choose a TCU or Wings game.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have had many people help me along the way. I think it is important to remember that the people that want to see you win will help you win. My inner circle of family and friends have showed me unconditional love and support since I started my business. I would not have a business if it was not for them.
On the business side of things I have to credit Jennifer Black for connecting me to people, giving me opportunities, and being an advocate for what I have done for AB and Beckham. We are more like family now because we have a level of trust that has been built over the years.
I have a long list of people that have given me opportunities or connected me with athletes. I’m very thankful for anyone that has brought my name up when I was not around. My business is built on word of mouth referrals so anytime you share my name with someone you know it never goes unnoticed. My athletes deserve credit as well because they are the ones who believe in me to help them with their journey. They allow me to be a part of their process which is very important to me.
