We had the good fortune of connecting with Domonique Reagan and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Domonique, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I would have to say as I reflect on this question, I have always known I wanted to have my own business, but I was never sure what my exact business would be. I just knew I had to help and serve people in a greater way. I started with what I noticed about myself and that was how naturally I gravitated to the credit repair process. I was extremely knowledgeable and had excellent credit myself so I loved to share what I knew as well as provide strategies to those who would come to me for assistance. I didn’t start out charging because it was never about the money for me. People began insisting I take payment for my time and the results they were receiving from me helping them. While building and working on my credit repair business, I made many connections that bridged the gap into me learning all about Life insurance and soon began to share information on policies with those who were interested. After having my own life-threatening heart attack on Christmas Eve of 2021, I felt commissioned to do much more. I knew then I was doing what I was meant to do. Today, I am now a licensed Life Insurance agent, and it has been the most rewarding of all to be able to prepare families of all kinds for life’s unforeseen moments. If I can help even one person, one family household, I am truly living my purpose.

What should our readers know about your business?
It is very important to me that I can connect with people as people and not as a “client”. I truly enjoy what I do from the sincerity of my heart. I listen to those that I meet with and hear their story, and I am always fueled by their journeys. Interactions I have with those I meet and speak to are always organic and leave me feeling blessed. Every chance I am given to help someone get protected truly excites me and brings supreme peace in mind for the family and their needs. I believe what sets me apart is that I follow up with people that show interest and let them know that I am here for them to ask questions or to provide clarity. I make sure my documentation and forms are accurate as I value their time and my own. Most importantly, I allow people to make their own decisions and come to their own stops in the road in choosing to protect themselves and/or family members. I never pressure anyone into anything for any reason because it is not ethical in my opinion, and there isn’t any need for me to do this as I feel one must decide for themselves what is a priority to them. I do share my experience and the peace I had when I was told by doctors I needed emergency surgery while experiencing a massive heart attack on Christmas Eve and I had to abruptly kiss my Husband goodbye not knowing if we would ever lock eyes with each other again. So, I will always speak my truth and what I know is that I had absolute peace knowing my family would financially be worry free and protected. To this day, it isn’t easy, there isn’t someone always ready to commit to a policy, but I don’t give up. I can’t give up because Life Insurance is like the “thing” we don’t usually know we need until we need it. Some people need time, whether it’s to figure out their budgets or to get much more information but helping raise awareness of the importance of having Life Insurance is my mission. I keep in mind what I have learned along the way, why I began in the first place, and ultimately, why I keep going. Overall, I want people that might come across what I have to say to know, I have lived through some tough and scary things. I am in this with you, and I do what I do because I want to enhance lives in the best possible way I can. I want you to know I will always uphold the well being of those around me and work with me because you are your own investment and how you go about protecting and serving yourself in the most productive and healthiest of ways will always be conducive to your continued greatness.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my girl was in town visiting, we would absolutely have to take a stroll down the Deep Ellum area, have a bite at Vidorra, (I live for their Birria tacos!) and of course pick up a pie on the way out at Emporium Pies. We would sightsee at Reunion Tower and check out the landscape and lights across all of Dallas. However, what’s a girl’s week without a bit of relaxation after so much fun, so we would make our way to get massages and drinks with live music and of course, more food! I enjoy the spontaneity of life and it wouldn’t be uncommon for me to opt for a quick weekend getaway to Houston to check out the food and areas there as well. I enjoy people who don’t take themselves seriously and places that offer culture and character. I keep an open mind to what’s out there but overall, I like to enjoy safe and new experiences when I get free time.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to give my most gracious thanks to my sister, Vee Outlaw. She has seen me through my happiest times and most trying of times. Her encouragement, support, and efforts to assist me with things not limited to any specific request, has been truly appreciated. I also want to greatly thank Elisabeth Smith. She has been a recent addition to my life and has made a major impact in helping me to grow professionally and in my purpose in such a short amount of time. She has been the greatest mentor to me and has taken me by hand with patience and understanding through all that I have been faced with, while continuing to learn more day by day. I am happy to acknowledge both of these women for their selfless natures and contributions to where I am today.
