We had the good fortune of connecting with DJ SaucyD and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi DJ, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The skill level I have as a DJ and being a natural networker. This holds so much importance behind my success because I always try to make sure I connect with anyone I can to boost my career in music and it never fails me. Every time I have a gig or I am just simply showing up to an event to support others, it always benefits me in the end because I am given a chance to show off my skill. Within in doing so, I solidify a connection. It’s what keeps me going as a DJ in the creative scene.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart from others is I have my own mixing style when it comes to DJing. I am most proud of how quickly I mastered crowd control. Whenever I have a gig, I can read the crowd properly to know which songs to play next. Getting to where I am today was not easy. I had to go out a lot to put my name out there, but it happened rather quickly. I’m in the creative scene now and my favorite creatives and DJs know my name. I feel like I’m getting closer. The lessons I have learned along the way have shaped how I move with my career today. One major lesson I have learned is to keep every move silent. I don’t announce anything I do until it’s set in stone. The more I do that, the more opportunities that come my way hold longevity. I want the world to know that me, my brand, and my passion for music are a package deal. I can’t let it go or give it up with whatever obstacle I face. I always like to say God dealt me a hand of cards, and I am playing them right.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My favorite spot in the city that I would recommend to anyone visiting Dallas would definitely be the “Creators Don’t Die” Warehouse on 2429 Malcolm X Blvd. I have had multiple DJ gigs there and have attended so many events and I always have a great time. It’s home for all creatives here in Dallas. It’s the perfect start and end to a weekend in Dallas. My favorite eating spots I would recommend are Pluckers and Benihana. I visit those spots very often.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First off, I want to dedicate this shoutout to God. Without him, I wouldn’t be where I am today with this gift that he granted me. A special shoutout goes to my extremely supportive family! I don’t know where I’d be without the love that you all give me. I want to thank all of my supporters. Whether you are family or a friend, thank you for pushing me and supporting me every step of the way. Doesn’t matter if you listened to a mix, showed up to a gig, or simply reposted my content, the support never goes unnoticed. I also want to dedicate this shoutout to the Keep Spinning DJ Academy here in Dallas where they taught me to DJ the RIGHT WAY! My instructor, JayClipp, not only taught me so much I didn’t know about being a DJ, but inspires me to keep my career going.
