We had the good fortune of connecting with Dezzy St. Jacobs and Erica Roberson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dezzy & Erica, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
The end goal is for us to have an established apparel company that encourages and uplifts women in their day to day. We also aim to empower and affirm them through inspirational quotes and scriptures. Being a faith based business, we hope our company not only makes people smile but also speaks to them on a spiritual level. Our desire is to build a legacy that surpasses our own professional careers and can be handed down to the next generation.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We are a faith-based brand that aims to inspire women to wear declarations of encouragement and faith while still being trendy. We’re proud to be a woman/minority-owned business that can empower other women.

It hasn’t been hard, but it hasn’t been easy. We both work full-time corporate jobs and have other responsibilities, so keeping up with the business and trying to stay relevant can be a struggle. Neither of us has started or owned a business before, and we’re learning from our mistakes as we go.

It helped that we both have backgrounds in retail so getting started was fairly simple. It was more learning the ins and out of how to use social media as a business owner. One of the biggest lessons we’ve learned is about communication; not just with vendors and customers but also with each other. We’ve learned how to balance friendship and business especially during critical moments.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Bishop Arts, Lower Greenville and Legacy West! When we go out we either stay close to home which would be Legacy West, but if we want to venture out, we head to Lower Greenville and Bishop Arts. All areas are super cute, have great places to eat and cool aesthetics for the perfect IG picture.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
There’s so many family and friends who have contributed to our success, the names are endless. We thank ALL of you for your support, love, and prayers over the years.
