We had the good fortune of connecting with Denton Art & Performance Collab and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Denton Art & Performance Collab, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
The most important factor behind our success is all the hours and hard work behind the scenes that most people don’t see. We spend a lot of time networking and building strong relationships with local venues, makers, and performers. We strive to not only have successful events for ourselves, but to also bring success and good vibes to every location we pop up at. We are a community driven event planning organization working our way towards being a non-profit organization. We put a lot of focus on promoting our vendors, performers, and venues to cultivate lasting success with their careers. This also help us, because we promote properly and are passionate about the community we are creating, people want to continue to work with us and are excited about our upcoming events and opportunities.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
DAPC is proud to provide local artists, makers, and performers the opportunity to grow their business, portfolio, and brand. Something that sets us apart from other event planners is our process for selecting vendors and performers for each event. Themes are a big deal for us at DAPC! It’s so much fun to have a theme at our events and gives more opportunities for participants to dress up and be involved. We select vendors and performers to not only match our event theme, but also to ensure variety of products so there is little to no direct competition with each other. We go through each application thoroughly, looking at all social media pages, websites, and personal views to help us select who best fits at each event. We reach out to specific vendors and performers for some of our events that we feel would be received well and thrive in sales. We got where we are today by paying attention to these type of details and heavily promoting on all platforms. It hasn’t been an easy journey, but it has been very fulfilling and rewarding. We have found that simply being kind and asking permission will cultivate success.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There are so many fantastic places to check out in Denton and always something happening! We would definitely stop by the food trucks parked at East Side to get a variety of local grub! One of my favorite food trucks is Pickled Carrot. They make delicious Asian Fusion meals! As for sit down restaurants that are Denton staples, we would go to Mr. Chopsticks and Sangam’s Indian Restaurant. Both of these have been around for a very long time and always have the best food and most amazing staff. Other places to check out and hang out are The Bearded Monk, Harvest House, Rubber Gloves Rehearsal Studio, and Golden Boy Coffee Co. They all provide an atmosphere that makes you want to come back. The Bearded Monk is owned by Ben Esely, one of the nicest guys I’ve ever met. Their staff is friendly, professional, and fun! They have a great patio area near the food trucks at East Side. Harvest House and Rubber Gloves are both fantastic venues with huge stages and large outdoor patio areas. There’s always a great show happening and they also often host our events! Golden Boy Coffee Co. is where we have our Golden Art Gallery and host many of our indoor events. We switch out local artists about every 3 months, providing a space for their artwork to be displayed at no cost. Golden Boy is an all inclusive coffee shop filled with art, music, and a wonderfully pleasing atmosphere. We are very grateful for manager, Andrew, all of their fantastic staff, and the best lattes in town! Other places we would pop in would be Atomic Candy on the square and Bewitched, a little metaphysical shop that carries a ton of local maker’s products.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would really love to give credit to the Denton community as a whole for our success. We have come a long way in the last year and a half creating a safe place for artists and performers to express themselves and make a name for themselves. Denton is such an amazing place for creative types to flourish. Our community has deeply supported us, our events, and the local charities we give back to. We want to say thank you, Denton! We love you and are excited to keep doing what we’re doing, because you make our dreams come true!
