Meet Decha Brooks | Founder, Creator, Author, & Tri-Leader

We had the good fortune of connecting with Decha Brooks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Decha, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind creating the Tri-Leader concept and writing the Tri-Leader book was rooted in a deep desire to create lasting impact. After nearly 20 years in senior leadership roles, working across various industries, including with world-class organizations like the Dallas Cowboys, I saw a consistent gap in how leadership was being developed and supported. I became an executive at 28 and a CEO by 35, and through that journey, I learned that titles don’t make leaders, behaviors do.
I founded Tri-Leader and wrote the Tri-Leader book because I wanted to help others become winning leaders—leaders who coach, encourage, and walk alongside their teams. The concept was born from lived experience, not theory. I wanted to give people a practical, heart-centered framework to lead with intention and make a real difference in their organizations. Creating the Tri-Leader business and book allowed me to bring that vision to life on my terms, with a mission that matters.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Tri-Leader is more than a business. Tri-Leader is a movement to redefine leadership. At its core, Tri-Leader is a philosophy and a framework that equips leaders to embody three essential roles: the Coach, the Cheerleader, and the Teammate. Through the Tri-Leader book and leadership development programs, I help current and aspiring leaders build cultures rooted in accountability, encouragement, and collaboration.
What sets Tri-Leader apart is that it’s not built on theory. It’s born from my personal experiences. I’ve spent nearly two decades in senior leadership roles across industries, including with iconic brands like the Dallas Cowboys. Throughout my career, I’ve witnessed both the best and worst of leaders. I developed the Tri-Leader concept to bridge the disconnect that often exists between leaders and their teams.
Getting here wasn’t easy. I encountered seasons of burnout and moments of isolation, often as the only woman, the only African American, or the only minority in leadership roles across different organizations. Yet I transformed those obstacles into motivation to lead with even greater intention. I leaned on my faith, my family, and a deep conviction that leadership, when done with passion, has the power to change lives.
One of my greatest lessons is this that leadership isn’t about titles. It’s about impact. If I can help just one leader show up more intentionally for their team, then I know Tri-Leader is doing what it was created to do.
What I want the world to know is that Tri-Leader is for anyone who wants to lead better, not just in their career, but in life. It’s for those who care deeply about people and want to leave a legacy rooted in purpose, growth, and service.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend came to town for a week, I’d make sure they got the full DFW experience, with a little relaxation, a little adventure, and a whole lot of good food.
We’d kick things off with dinner at one of my absolute favorites, Abuelo’s. Their fajitas and creamy queso are the best. Then, we would spend the day in historic downtown Grapevine. I’d take them to the charming shops and one of the cute little restaurants. Next, we would visit Grapevine Mills. I love the Saks Off 5th store. They have the best bargains.
Dinner would be at 1845 Taste Texas in Flower Mound. From the atmosphere to the perfectly cooked food, this place never disappoints.
We’d rent bikes and explore the trails around town. Lastly, I would also take them on a boat ride on Lake Lewisville.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I wouldn’t be where I am today without the unwavering love and support of my family. A special shoutout to my late grandmother, whose wisdom still guides me; to my incredible parents, who laid the foundation; to my wonderful sister, who has always believed in me; and to my husband, whose encouragement and love keep me going. And above all, I give glory to God—for opening every door, sustaining me through every season, and being the true source of everything I’ve accomplished.
