We had the good fortune of connecting with De Shunn T. Berry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi De Shunn T., can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My whole thought process behind me starting my own business was to make a creative avenue for myself and others. I wanted to be able to express myself through my work in film and photography.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Shunn B. Films prides itself on providing professional and quality content here in the state of Arkansas. As a black owned film company we enjoy providing opportunities for people of color here in central Arkansas. We provide opportunities both on-screen and behind the scenes. In an industry that doesn’t provide many acting opportunities to people of color, we along with others decided to make a change here. We focus on real world situations as well as let the creativity flow. It has not been easy at all but worth the challenge. My goal is not only to be the black voice but make sure it is heard through any and all forms. We have been happy to collaborate with other such as DAYVISION films, RB Media Solutions, Beauty loft Headquarters and several other here in central and northwest Arkansas. I have two of the best people that work with me tirelessly, Kaylynn Richardson(Screen writer/director) and Verlon M. Molden(screen writer/actor/director). They help everyday to not only make myself better but also Shunn B. Films. I’ve learned so much along the way when I was working to obtain my bachelor’s degree in Mass Media at the University of Arkansas Little Rock and even more. I’ve made so many connections this year both in state and out. Learning the “ins and outs” of the industry always sparked an interest and learning to be a better filmmaker and director is the goal. The one thing I want the world to know about Shunn B. is humble, hungry and coming to a theater near you!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would definitely say downtown Little Rock because of the scenery, restaurants and live entertainment. There’s always a crowd mixing it up in the River Market. There are many different restaurants and activities in the area for adults and children. There are several bars in the area to hangout and across the River is the city of North Little Rock with its restaurants, activities and scenery. The live music and entertainment is definitely a vibe in itself.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Honestly, anyone who has ever worked with me, encouraged me, cheered me on or showed even an ounce of support belongs in this category of recognition. I thank God for my family, friends and people that I work with daily that keep pushing me towards greater and not allowing me to just settle. The support of my people makes the long days and hardwork worth it.
