We had the good fortune of connecting with David & Kylie Knight and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi David & Kylie, what is the most important factor behind your success?
If we have had any success, it is because we practice what we preach. We typically end our shows by talking about the value and uniqueness within each of us. We believe that this is because everyone is created Imago Dei – in the image of God. This belief that everyone has value impacts how we treat them. We want to show that we truly care about each person we come in contact with and hopefully, that comes across in every interaction. In fact, we have been blessed to receive a couple of accolades over the years and each one has to do with how we treat others. For example, a few years back, we received an award for our customer engagement. This is simply because we treat others the way we want to be treated. In 2018, through our efforts, we won an international competition for “Marketer of the Year.” Again, this simply reflected our desire to build relationships with our clients and prospects as people rather than dollar signs. We know that there are more “effective” ways to do business. There are many strategies, we could employ to “get the money quicker.” However, for us, it is important to stick to our beliefs and see the image of God in each person. Recognizing that everyone has value beyond what they can do for us/our business.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
We believe that a relationship with God is the most joyful thing any human being can partake in. We want to use the art of magic and illusion to inspire joy and awe. This then opens people up to hearing about who God is and how He wants a relationship with each of us. We love partnering with churches and ministries to help them reach people who might not have heard about Jesus or have a poor perception of Him. If we can help people to see that a life healed by Christ is a joy and the greatest adventure ever, hopefully, they will want to take the step toward knowing more.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
The DFW area offers SO MUCH! Pretty much anything you want to do you can. Personally, we love to take a walk through Arbor Hills Nature Preserve. It is a great way to connect with nature in the midst of the city. Then, we might take a trip to downtown Dallas to visit the 6th floor museum and Klyde Warren Park for some food trucks! Of course, you have to hit up the Galleria and maybe drive through some of the beautiful old neighborhoods around Highland Park. There would be lots of eating. We lean toward Mexican or Tex-Mex so, maybe some of the great hole-in-the-walls as well as some of the more “upscale” places like La Hacienda Ranch and Petra in McKinney. For BBQ we would hit up Hard Eight. Liberty Burger and Kenny’s Burger Joint would certainly be on our list for good eats! We are also huge fans of coffee. So, we might hit up Global Peace Factory or RE:defined Coffee House. If it is a Sunday, we would certainly be attending our church – The Table Dallas.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
There are so many people we need to thank. Obviously, our family and friends for the ways they have helped shaped who we are. We have to recognize our church, The Table Dallas. They have supported and encouraged us every step of the way. In particular, our pastor David Wahlstedt, has poured into us spiritually and emotionally. Additionally, we have been blessed to have amazing friends and mentors in magic performance. The members of the Dallas Magic Club like Fred and Bobbie Becker, Dal and Cinde Sanders, Mike Williams, Eric Hogue, and too many others to mention. We have also had great connections with amazing artists around the world – Kevin and Cindy Spencer, André Kole, Chris Murphy, Jonathan Levit, Barry Friedman, Brad Ross, Michael Spremulli, David Crone….the list goes on and on.
